BADFINGER
Straight Up
Very Rare 1972 1st Press in INCREDIBLE Condition!
1G/1G STAMPERS!
This listing is for an original 1972 stereo 1st press copy of the Badfinger LP 'Straight Up'. This is an incredibly early 1st press that features the 1U/1U matrix numbers and 1G/1G mother stampers, indicating that this copy was one of the first 300 off the presses!!
After being discovered by Mal Evans, Badfinger (or The Iveys as they were originally known) were the first non Beatles act to appear on the Apple label. After an initially disappointing start McCartney offered them the track 'Come And Get It' under the condition that it was recorded exactly like the demo he had produced. They complied and scored their first big hit.
This is an absolutely beautiful example of this album and looks like it's only ever been played a couple of times, with a gorgeous NM vinyl! The cover looks immaculate and you could hardly tell that this copy was 45 years old!
Not only that, but this was one of the first copies ever manufactured, carrying 1U/1U matrix numbers and 1G/1G stampers! To read more about what the mother / stamper codes mean, then I suggest a quick read of this page here. The 1G / 1G stampers on this record, as detailed in that link, shows that this was one of the first 300 copies off the press!!
An incredible example of this very rare pressing!

Band / Title Badfinger / Straight Up Year of Release 1972 Catalogue Number SAPCOR 19 Label Dark Apple Tax Code on Disc - Sleeve Manufacturer Garrod and Lofthouse Side 1 Matrix Number SAPCOR 19A-1U PORKY Side 2 Matrix Number SAPCOR 19B-1U PECKO Side 1 Stampers 1 / G Side 2 Stampers 1 / G Cover Condition The cover is in EX+/NM- condition. It's holding up beautifully and looks amazing! The laminate on the front and back is beautfully thick and clean with a sharp shine. There's just a hint of disc impression and a few tiny little creases around the edges and a small laminate bubble at the bottom left of the front that bring the grading down from a solid NM. The seams are holding perfect as well as the spine, which is the original pinched version. Inner Sleeve Condition - Inserts Condition - Disc Condition(VISUALLY GRADED) The disc is in EX+/NM- condition. The disc has a beautifully rich, sharp shine to it and looks like it has barely been played. Everso slightly downgraded from a true NM as I can see just the very faintest, barely visible little scuffs here and there. Apart from these the disc is looking flawless! Label Condition The labels are in NM+ condition. The labels are absolutely flawless and each just has one very light, barely visible little spindlemark, indicating that disc surely has only ever had a few plays in its life!
All records have been visually graded under a strong, 125W natural light desk lamp.
