HAILED AT the time as a hard rock super power trio, the Baker Gurvitz Army boasted fine credentials what with ex Cream and Blind Faith drummer Ginger Baker and two members of underground heavy rockers Three Man Army. On paper the coupling sounded hugely appealing so thank god that they actually pulled it off in the studio.
Think hard and heavy progressive rock supported by huge blasts of raging bass and drum work and great lead guitar courtesy of Adrian Gurvitz. The songs are long (8 minutes is not uncommon here) and choc full of all the right period moves including drum solos and raging instrumental sections.
My favourite moment is in the track 'Mad Jack' where Ginger recites a great spoken word story (remiscent of his work with Cream)...he sounds barking mad, but I guess that ain't so far removed from the truth. Having said that his playing is simply amazing - better even than Cream - and the production sounds like the band is playing in your living room.

Cover: Again, no signs of use. Issued in a fully laminated cover - laminate displays superb gloss. Sharp corners, no dings, no bends, no split seams, no ring wear and no creases. Spine is uncrushed and stiff. Beautiful and impossible to find like this 39 years after release. Grades as shop fresh MINT!
