BALLYKELLY FOLK WORKSHOP

"FOLKUS ON BALLY-WHO?!!"

UK
LP 12" vinyl album (33rpm)
BALLYKELLY FOLK WORKSHOP
BKFW1
1969

This is a stunning private press folk club record, virtually impossible to find any copies of this, this maybe the only one that has hit the collectors market.

Coming from Ballykelly, some of the performances are in keeping with tradition, but not all, and with several tracks of femvox... it's definately worth a listen.

The Ballykelly Folk Workshop was formed in August 1968, this LP was made to celebrate their first anniversary.  The Workshop Folk contribute two tracks as a group to the album and consist of Bill Crump (tin whistle), Jan Crump (vocals), Pete Cheterman (12 string guitar), Barry Kilgariff and Bill Graham sharing the honours on guitar and banjo.

Another group, The Cottage Folk provide two tracks, hailing from Derry, they also have female vocals.

Other acts, Ian Jones (He's English, by the way), Chris Newland is another Englishman, Blair Bennett is an exiled Scot... plus some tracks by members of the Workshop Folk individually.

The tracks on this LP are unlikely to appear anywhere else by these artists, and is truely very rare.
