Legend has it that, after hearing this beautifully poetic and under-adorned masterpiece of simple elegance and elegant simplicity, Eric Clapton decided to give up on heavy electric blues (Cream- style) altogether , and never look back. Indeed, after 1969 we find him singing and playing southern soul, reggae, pop, disco, hard rock , electro-pop and whatnot, but we no longer get to hear him play 9-minute guitar solos. The impact that this, Band’s first album, exerted on Rock world surely cannot be overestimated. It proved to the world at large that Bob Dylan, Muddy Waters, Ronnie Hawkins and John Hammond,jr. were not crazy when they opted to be backed by THE Band. Both songwriting and musical execution are exquisite; the album contains some of the best - and most memorable - Rock songs ever written and played, and represents one of top-20 best albums of all times. This is the original 1968 pressing of the album, on the original Capitol "Colorband" label, and is offered here in a beautiful, pristine condition. Don’t fail to grab this piece of history. (a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS EXCELLENT. This is one of those albums that are somewhat difficult to grade. It is somewhere between VG++ and NEAR MINT, just a notch below NEAR MINT. A few light abrasions ARE visible, but they are extremely shallow, superficial and only moderately visually distracting (nothing significant).For the most part, the vinyl looks impeccable without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
