A fabulous session from Barbara Lynn – a real overlooked jewel in the crown of Atlantic released during their glory days in the 60s, and a singer with a soulful style that really deserved greater exploration! The album is literally bursting at the seams with wonderful original tunes, written either by Barbara or arrangers Cliff Thomas, Ed Thomas, and Bob McRee. The set was recorded at the Grits & Gravy Studios in Clinton, Mississippi by the legendary Huey P Meux – which gives it a slightly different style than much of the Atlantic output at the time. Titles include "You're Losing Me", "Sufferin City", "You'll Lose A Good Thing", "Take Your Love & Run", "I'll Suffer", "Maybe We Can Slip Away", "Multiplying Pain", and "Mix It Up Baby".

·       CONDITION:

·       RECORD

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG VG++, just a notch below NEAR MINT. A few light abrasions (probably just sleeve scuffs inflicted in storage over the years) ARE VISIBLE, but they appear fairly  insignificant relative to the overall condition of the vinyl, and are only moderately visually distracting. For most part, the vinyl looks impeccable, without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·       COVER

THE COVER IS ONLY ABOUT GOOD++ (G++).  [VISIBLE COVER DAMAGE NOTED]

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        A visible water stain affects the area about 3-inch wide on the back side, and about 2-inch wide on the front.;Tthe stain is visible and has caused some erosion in the firmness of the cover ,  visible yellowish discoloration, a few minor peel-off marks (large 1 square peel-off mark on the front) and a large, 2 square inch reddish stain on the back panel; to shore up the cover and prevent it from peeling off any further, previous owner affixed two 2"-wide pieces of clear scorch tape over the sensitive, damaged area.

-         Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 4 (front side) and 3 (back side)

-         Cover shows some light yellowing on back side, apparently from aging  (nothing significant).

-         Cover has a few visible wrinkles along the spine

-         Visible shelf wear noted on the seams

-         Cover has some fraying/wear along the upper seam

-         Cover has one corner slightly worn / frayed / bent (just a beginning of the split seam)

-         Cover has a partially split top seam (between 2 and 4 inches  / 5 to 10 centimeters)

-         Cover has a small cutout hole in one of the corners

-         Cover has a visible "wrinkle"(crease)  in one of the corners.

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No writing

-        No stamps

-        No stickers or labels

-        No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or  cuts.

-        No bar codes

-        No RIAA stamps or stickers.
