Introduced by Robin Hall and Jimmie MacGregor.Featuring: Frankie Armstrong and Louis Killen, Rosemary and Hugh Gentleman, The Corrie Folk Trio, Ian Campbell Group, Bob Roberts, Lynn and Graham McCarthy, Packie Manus Byrne.
Original issue with green and yellow labels, deep "Decca" style groove, CN 408.
Discovered sleeveless and with no accompanying paperwork with a number of other transcription discs in an old vinyl carry case.
Note that each number in this series is spread across two sides but on different discs. (This was to facilitate seamless change over from one side to another when the discs were originally broadcast.)
Disc glossy but with some scuffs and short scratches. Playback around VG. Overall the surfaces are clean with the recording bright and with no underlying surface noise. However there are occasional instances of soft to mid-level ticks and minor background noise. These are generally infrequent enough not to hinder listening pleasure. There are a few consecutive mid-level ticks to the first Rosemary and Hugh Gentleman track on side one; near to the end of B1; and to the beginning of the Bob Roberts track but all these instances are short-lived. Generally the bulk of the LP plays EX.
