In the 1980s, several people in the Beach Boys’ camp made outtakes available to Vigotone for mastering a copy of the “SMiLE” LP. These are those master tapes and numerous of these tracks are different than those tracks that appeared on the sanctioned copy put together by Brian Wilson a few years later. I started trying to collect outtakes in the late 1970s from this fabled project that was sabotaged by Mike Wilson and still am to this day. Paul McCartney said in 1967 that if SMiLE had been released prior to The Beatles “Sgt. Pepper”, it would have been “SMiLE” that changed rock & roll music forever in an Americana way instead of “Pepper's music hall fashion”. It is worth the research. Start with the timings to identify the differences and go from there.

Note: Below is a list of the various SMiLE bootleg the individual releases’ format(s) to help you in your research in collecting these RARE recordings. One thing for sure, on the final Disc, on Side F, this boots contains the only known release of a track titled “Brian’s Smile Session Party” (24:00). (This is somewhat of a misnomer because the recording was made at Brian’s house a bit prior to the SMiLE recordings. Still, it’s the only known source for this casual BB tape.

Question / Answer from interested buyer:
Q: Just wondering what version of wonderful and wind chimes are they are they the one from the 2011 box set ?
A: The box set's version of Wonderful on the vinyl is 2:04. This triple boot version's version is 2:03, so it is the same track. The box set's version on the vinyl of Wind Chimes version clocks in at 3:06 . The triple boot for sale here is 2:17 (not the same). Also, I have a 2LP Vigotone boot that is on black vinyl (not yet listed on eBay) that has a version of Wind Chimes clocking in at 2:37 (different). This boot was pressed in 1983, I believe.
I have collected Smile tracks for years and although the Capitol box set is awesome and quite thorough, there are still outtakes. I worked with a fellow at Lucent who was a (non-singing) cousin of the Wilsons and M. Love who also lived in Southern Cal and he said that in 1966 / 1967 Brian spent hundreds of hours in the studio on SMiLE so I would not be surprised that there are more versions of most all the songs. Capitol likely chose the tracks that were either the best quality or tracks that were odd or special.
That other Vigotone SMiLE boot (2LP) I mentioned above has George Fell Into His French Horn clocking in at 3:01 but this boot I am selling here has a 9:02 version of George which I have never seen before or since.
In 1977, the first SMiLE (1LP) boot appeared (excluding The Priess Tape) and it included had a track labeled Summertime but that was actually Here Come Da Honey Man by Miles Davis & Gil Evans from their version of Porgy & Bess. On the 2nd boot, the bootlegger apologized for the mistake and removed it. BTW, collectors call a track like this an "Outfake". Amusing.
I figure you probably know all of this but I am still untangling some stuff and still finding occasional things. "Be vigilant" is motto. BOTTOM LINE: I have 3 SMiLE boots that have different tracks from each other plus there's also the Capitol box set, as far as I can tell. I'll get the others up, soon.
(More info below)
Who knows how many 100s of hours were recorded overall, but in years to come, someone will probably put together a multiple disc set with very known recording of the project. I, for one, am starting to save now for that bootleg release. I think these recordings (1966-7) validate just how creative, intelligent and important this project was to rock & roll along the Bob Dylan’s “Highway 61 Revisited” / “Blonde On Blonde” recording, and the recordings for “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”.
The music and the packaging make this boot a tremendous collectible. I mean, rare unreleased outtakes, colored vinyl and a 3LP out of print bootleg boxed set, in beautiful condition…. Can you say, MONSTA? I KNEW you could
Just FYI, I honestly believe that these takes which are alternates to some of the (latest) official tracks that Capitol's recent official Capitol box set released, that you are closer to having a more definitive SMiLE collection than most people. I promise you that if this LP does not sell well, I’ll simply put it back in my collection. I just burned a copy the only time I played it. It'll store. Perhaps my timing sucks (ha),
