Heroes & Villains / You're Welcome. Sleeve VG+, Record VG+.
Finally Found One! In my circle of collector friends, this is the first copy that any of us has ever touched. I've had multiples on almost every other Beach Boys release and that just amplifies the rarity of this one. Time for some backstory.
Things at Capitol were chugging along just fine and this wa to be the Boys next release so the production machine starts moving. It was assigned a catalog number (5826) and picture sleeves were proofed and printed up just waiting for the vinyl. Whaaaat? They're starting their own record label? And they want a new picture sleeve? What are we gonna do with these that we've printed?
Well, since their new label hadn't been legalized in Canada yet, let's send them up there where the new single would still be released on Capitol. All we have to do is just overpring a black box over the old number and add the new 1001.
So, not only is the sleeve unbelievably hard to find, that 45 on the Capitol swirl is also very scarce. Sleeve is really nice with no tears or writing just a bit of wear at the opening. Record is a strong VG+ on the a-side, VG on the flip.
