Description
THE BEACH BOYS - Landlocked
1981 Vinyl LP release of the unreleased 1971 Landlocked album
Catalogue Number:- BROTHER HNG-10
Description:
- 1981 US Brother Records pressing of The Beach Boys' previously unreleased Landlocked LP.
- The Landlocked sessions were recordings made by 5 of the original Beach Boys in 1969-1970 after they had left Capitol Records and signed to Reprise.
- Brian & Carl wanted to release most of this material as their first Reprise/Brother LP, but it was rejected by the label, who felt it was too psychedelic for mass consumption and did not capture the group at their commercial best.
- Several of these tracks were re-recorded during the 1970s for other Beach Boys releases, but this is the first time the originally recorded sessions were released on LP.
- Instead of just the 13 tracks that the Landlocked Bootleg tapes contained, this LP features 17 original tracks recorded during those sessions.
- Since The Beach Boys were still under contract in 1981, their name could not legally appear, so they used Carl & The Passions instead, which was the original name of The Beach Boys when they first began.
- Brian Wilson (vocals, bass, piano, keyboards), Mike Love (vocals, saxophones, electro-theremin, moog), Carl Wilson (lead guitar, vocals), Al Jardine (guitar, vocals), Dennis Wilson (drums, vocals)
