Description
Up for auction is a set of three BBC Transcription discs entitled The Beach Boys Story, a 6-part documentary broadcast in 1974 hosted by Bob Harris and featuring interviews with Mike Love, Carl Wilson, Al Jardine and Bruce Johnston. Also interviewed are numerous key players in the band’s history (Nik Venet, Van Dyke Parks, Audree Wilson, Marilyn Rovell, Jack Rieley, David Anderle....and so many others). It’s a fascinating story, meticulously researched & brilliantly told. Unfortunately, I fear a few sections of the complete set are missing here, hence the low starting price. Still there’s plenty enough to keep you going until the rest turn up.
Condition: all 3 LPs are in gorgeous condition. The LPs were probably played once on broadcast, then filed in the radio station library from whence they came. A comfortable EX. There are no covers, and no other documentation is included (I don’t think there was ever a script to go with this set).
My grades: I use a 10-point scale: M-; EX; VG+; VG; VG-; G+; G; G-; F (fair); P (poor), following Record Collector’s grading guidelines, with an extra + or – here & there to separate the wheat from the chaff. I never use mint as a grade for used records. My feedback from buyers indicates I normally undergrade in listings.
