Description

PLEASE READ FIRST!

I'm having to make this even clearer as people are still buying records I'm grading low and as a 'collection filler', and then complain about the audio quality when they try to play them. As I do not own a record player I VISUALLY GRADE my records, so I cannotguarantee that discs will be click, skip and noise free (although any marks that may cause such problems will be highlighted in the description).

All photos are of the actual item on sale. I do not use stock or 'borrowed' images.

THE BEATLES
Please Please Me
Mega Rare 'Mid Sized' STEREO Cover!

This listing is for an incredibly rare and impossible to find 'mid sized' STEREO cover copy of the Beatles debut LP 'Please Please Me'! Not only this, but the disc is the correct press with the older style layout but featuring the 'Sold in UK' statement.

This stereo variation of Please Please Me is by far the rarest and most hard to find of them all, and to find it with its original mid-sized stereo cover is near impossible!

Back in 1964 stereo was still very much something only the very well off could afford. Stereo discs cost more than their mono counterparts and stereophonic record players were still priced up to the point of being a highly expensive luxury. Because of this, the original stereo presses sold in tiny, tiny numbers whilst everyone bought the much cheaper mono presses. Today it is incredibly difficult to find the original stereo presses of their earlier albums!

Manufactured some time around early to mid 1964, it appears that Garrod and Lofthouse ran a few copies of the sleeve off using the smaller format that was being used on the Hard Day's Night sleeves. This happened for such a short time with an extremely limited production run and, today, it's nearly impossible to find today!

Not in the best condition, but still a very respectible collection filler! Here's your chance to pick up a copy of this mega rarity!!

Please check out large, detailed photos of this record at the bottom of this listing.

Title Please Please Me Year of Release 1964 Catalogue Number PCS 3042 Label Yellow / Black Parlophone with Parlo rimtext and Sold in UK statement Tax Code on Disc MT Sleeve Manufacturer Garrod and Lofthouse Side 1 Matrix Number YEX 94-1 Side 2 Matrix Number YEX 95-1 Side 1 Stampers 1 / RD Side 2 Stampers 1 / GH Cover Condition The cover is in F/G condition. The cover is holding okay as you can see in the photos, and has general wear and tear, light creasing and light discoluration. Would have graded VG but there's a tear that runs along the middle of the front cover as you can see in the photo below that a previous owner has cellotaped. Inner Sleeve Condition - Inserts Condition - Disc Condition
(VISUALLY GRADED) The disc is in G condition. The disc has a nice, clean shine to it and overall looks really nice. I'd have graded this a solid VG as, for the most part, the disc has just some light scuffing. However, there are some slightly heavier scuffs and noticeable marks on side two, some of which I can feel with my fingernail. Label Condition The labels are in VG condition. Both labels are looking okay but do have some blemishes. The P in Parlophone - on both labels - has been partially coloured in and the side 1 label looks to have a small needle scar on it. Both labels have some light spindlewear and a little whitening around the centrehole.

All records have been
visually graded under a strong, 125W natural light desk lamp.

Records are posted out tracked and insured (where applicable) to comply with eBay and PayPal seller protection policy.

The P+P costs given on each auction are for that auction only. If you win more than one auction please wait until I've
sent you out an amended invoice to combine postage.

All LPs will be mailed out in a strong, corrugated cardboard LP mailing box with the LP outside the sleeve and extra
sheets of corrugated cardboard will be used where applicable.

My Vinyl Grading:

MINT No true preowned disc can be mint. The highest I will ever grade a disc is NM+/M- if it looks untouched and unplayed, but the MINT description will only be for records I personally know have never been played (i.e. I personally bought from new) or for copies that are still sealed. NEAR MINT (NM) For discs that look near flawless and which may have just the slightest, barely visible little whispy marks here and there. EXCELLENT (EX) For discs that still retain a brilliant, clean shine but does have some light scuffs here and there. VERY GOOD (VG) For discs that still look clean and have a nice shine to them, but do have a fair amount of light scuffmarks and/or some light scratches. GOOD (G) For discs that look like they have been loved and have a fair amount of scuffs and surface scratches. Not in terrible condition, but would look like it would play with a lot of crackle. FAIR (F) For discs that may have some life left in them but are pretty trashed with numerous surface scuffs and heavier scuffs and scratches etc POOR (P) For discs that are unplayable and look completely trashed. Discs like this would only ever be offered if they were insanely rare.
