Description

After 20 years of collecting, the time has come for me to sell my Beatles collection and let other collectors appreciate some of the records and memorabilia I've accumilated over the years. Please check out my other listings and remember to save me as a favourite seller, as every week I'll be listing more and more increasingly rare, collectible and desirable Beatles records!

Please be aware that all records are VISUALLY graded only - all grades are given based on how they appear under my desk lamp - since I do not own a record player. I cannot guarantee that discs will be click and skip free, although any marks and scratches that might possibly cause such problems will be highlighted clearly in the description.

This auction is for an extremely rare original 1963 STEREO pressing of the Beatles Parlophone debut LP 'Please Please Me' on the yellow / black label.

This is the very hard to find pressing (3rd? 4th? I'm not 100% sure which one) that OMITS the 'Recording First Published 1963' text on the labels above the matrix number!! These were only around for a very small, limited amount of time before this text was added to the labels in early summer. But couple this the fact that this is the STEREO pressing!

Back in early 1963 the stereo format was still in its infancy. Stereo records cost a lot more than their mono counterparts and stereophonic record players cost a small fortune back then. So everybody bought the mono presses. The original stereo presses of the early Beatle albums sold in absolutely tiny amounts and, today, are extremely hard to find!

Not in the best condition, but certainly an extremely rare pressing that hardly anybody will have in their collection. Will make a great collection filler!

The Cover : POOR/FAIR

The cover is an original E.J. Day 1963 sleeve. I wish I could say it was a gold sleeve but there's wear over the Angus McBean credit and so I can't say for sure. As you can see, the cover is pretty 'well loved', shall we say. I won't go into detail on the cover as I feel the photos above give the best idea on how the cover looks.   Disc (Visually Graded Only!!) : FAIR

The playing surface has a lot of scuffing and marking along with some slightly heavier looking marks. There's a small scratched on side 2 that runs through most of track 4 and about a third of track 5 at the 8 o'clock position that's small but is feelable under the fingernail.

The labels are with bright text. There's some wear as you can see in the photos above. There's some light, moderate spindlewear and a little whitening around the centrehole. Not bad labels!.
