The Beatles - 'Please Please Me / Ask Me Why'. 45-R 4983
The Beatles 1963 UK 1st FACTORY SAMPLE DEMO pressing of 'Please Please Me / Ask Me Why' 7" single. Released on the 11th January 1963, these initial early factory sample pressings would have usually been given out to reviewers, radio stations or used as quality control within the pressing plant.
Released on the red Parlophone label both sides feature the 'Recording First Published 1963' text and OMIT the 'Made in GT Britain' text. The side one label features an embossed 'ZT' tax code. This early copy has the catalog number of 45-R 4983. The '45' prefix refers to the playing speed of 45rpm as at this time EMI also still produced a very limited number of 78's. The prefix was dropped in early 1963 with the end of 78's and the additional numbers became obsolete. Later copies just having R 4983 as the catalog number. The side one label features a FACTORY SAMPLE NOT FOR SALE sticker along with the name 'Sue Williams' and an 'A' written to indicate the a-side. The vinyl comes housed within the original 'Urgent Special Rush Copy Top Pop!' EMI promotional sleeve which is in great condition.

Side 1. 7XCE 17217-1N MPT3 G O
Side 2. 7XCE 17218-1N MPT2 G O
The vinyl is in VERY GOOD/VERY GOOD+ condition. Both sides play fine with crackle in some places.
Both labels are in EXCELLENT- condition with no damage but side one does feature some writing (see picture).
The sleeve is in EXCELLENT- condition. One minor rip around the center otherwise near perfect.
