Description

PLEASE READ FIRST!

I'm having to make this even clearer as people are still buying records I'm grading low and as a 'collection filler', and then complain about the audio quality when they try to play them. As I do not own a record player I VISUALLY GRADE my records, so I cannotguarantee that discs will be click, skip and noise free (although any marks that may cause such problems will be highlighted in the description).

All photos are of the actual item on sale. I do not use stock or 'borrowed' images.

THE BEATLES
Please Please Me
Mega Rare 'Mid Sized' Mono Cover!

This listing is for an incredibly rare and impossible to find 'mid sized' mono cover copy of the Beatles debut LP 'Please Please Me!"

Manufactured some time around early to mid 1964, these sleeves were manufactured by EJ Day at a time when Garrord and Lofthouse had pretty much completely taken over. However, it appears that EJ Day were called on to manufacture a tiny number of additional mono sleeves and used the mono size that was currently being used for the front of the Hard Day's Night sleeve.

These 'mid sized' mono sleeves are impossible to find as so few were ever manufactured back in 1964! Here's your chance to pick up a nice example of this mega rarity!!

Please check out large, detailed photos of this record at the bottom of this listing.

Title Please Please Me Year of Release 1964 Catalogue Number PMC 1202 Label Yellow / Black Parlophone Tax Code on Disc MT Sleeve Manufacturer Ernest J. Day Side 1 Matrix Number XEX 421-1N Side 2 Matrix Number XEX 422-1N Side 1 Stampers 10 / GLO Side 2 Stampers 4 11 / GTP Cover Condition The cover is in VG condition. The sleeve is holding up okay but does have a little, general wear and tear as you can see in the photos below. The front has a nice colour to it but does have some rubbing on the laminate along with a little creasing around the edges. The top seam has some wear that has gone through the initial slick but the seam itself is holding and has not torn. The bottom seam is looking much better with just a few spot of wear. The spine is complete and fully legible with no splits or wear. The back has creamed a little with a little rubbing down the mouth edge. A couple of trackjs have a small, blue x drawn next to them, but overall the back is looking pretty clean. Check out the photos below. Overall, a decent example of thiss very rare cover! Inner Sleeve Condition - Inserts Condition - Disc Condition
(VISUALLY GRADED) The disc is in VG+ condition. The disc has a really nice, clean shine to it and, overall, looks really nice. There is some scuffing along with a number of heavier looking scuffs here and there - nothing nasty looking,k but noticeable.. Label Condition The labels are in EX condition. Both labels are clean with bright, silver text and have no writing, tears etc. There's some light spindlewear and some light whitening around the centrehole. Nice labels!

My Vinyl Grading:

MINT No true preowned disc can be mint. The highest I will ever grade a disc is NM+/M- if it looks untouched and unplayed, but the MINT description will only be for records I personally know have never been played (i.e. I personally bought from new) or for copies that are still sealed. NEAR MINT (NM) For discs that look near flawless and which may have just the slightest, barely visible little whispy marks here and there. EXCELLENT (EX) For discs that still retain a brilliant, clean shine but does have some light scuffs here and there. VERY GOOD (VG) For discs that still look clean and have a nice shine to them, but do have a fair amount of light scuffmarks and/or some light scratches. GOOD (G) For discs that look like they have been loved and have a fair amount of scuffs and surface scratches. Not in terrible condition, but would look like it would play with a lot of crackle. FAIR (F) For discs that may have some life left in them but are pretty trashed with numerous surface scuffs and heavier scuffs and scratches etc POOR (P) For discs that are unplayable and look completely trashed. Discs like this would only ever be offered if they were insanely rare.
