Please be aware that all records are VISUALLY graded only - all grades are given based on how they appear under my desk lamp - since I do not own a record player. I cannot guarantee that discs will be click and skip free, although any marks and scratches that might possibly cause such problems will be highlighted clearly in the description.

This auction is for a rare, authentic copy of the American Beatles LP 'Introducing the Beatles', on the VeeJay label!
After Capitol refused to publish any of the Beatles music in America, George Martin set about trying to secure a deal with a smaller record label. Vee Jay, a small, Gospel label, took them on.
The album was initially released with the tracks 'P. S. I Love You' and 'Love Me Do' but Capitol ironically owned the publishing rights to these songs and VeeJay soon had to replace the tracks with 'Ask Me Why' and 'Please Please Me'. These first 'Version 1' albums are very rare. The copy on offer here is the more common, but still very collectible, Version 2.
Initially the album did nothing, but after Beatlemania broke out in America VeeJay realised that they had an album of Beatles music just sitting there, and decided to go all out subcontracting a number of pressing plants to get as many copies as they could of the album out to the stores. Capitol soon took them to court and won, giving VeeJay just a few months before they had to give the rights back to them. When Capitol got them back they reissued them as 'Early Beatles' which bombed pretty badly.
Introducing the Beatles is one of the most counterfeited LPs of all time. However, this is a 100% authentic, genuine pressing. Nearly every fake lists the Version 1 songs whilst nearly every genuine copy lists the version 2 songs. Nearly every fake was printed as stereo whereas most mono copies are genuine. This copy has the right colour hue, it has George's shadow and the back passes the 'Honey' test (fakes have a chunk of the H in Honey missing). The deadwax on the record is less than 1" thick and has the 'Audiomatrix' stamp (fakes have a deadwax larger than 1" and no Audiomatrix stamp) and the credit 'The Beatles' is above the spindlehole. On every fake this credit is below the spindlehole!
The deadwax also carries the ARC 4-21-4 / ARC 4-22-4 numbers in the deadwax, showing that this particular pressing was produced at the Allentown Record Co. Inc. in Pennslvania.

The cover is showing your usual wear and tear for a 50+ year old record but, overall, is holding up pretty good. The front has a decent, rich colour to it and a little wear and disc impression as you can see in the photos above. Top seam is holding really nice. Bottom seam has the paper tearing and wearing with the card splitting just a little at the mouth edge going about an inch in. The spine is a little worn but there are no splits. The back is quite clean bar some light rubbing in places as you can see in the photo above. An original price sticker of $4.80 is still stuck to the bottom right corner and someone has written their name and the date they received the album at the top right. Nice bit of nostalgia there! All in all, not looking too bad! These covers are pretty fragile and time usually isn't so good with them. But this one's holding up pretty good! Disc (Visually Graded Only!!) : VG+
The disc has got a wonderful shine to it and looks very clean! It just has some light scuffs amd marks in places, nothing at all serious or deep. Looking really nice!.
The labels are looking really nice and clean with bright, ilver text. There's a little wear in spots as you can see in the photos above. Both labels have some light spindlewear and a little whitening around the centrehole. Nice labels!
