Description
Please be aware that all records are VISUALLY graded only - all grades are given based on how they appear under my desk lamp - since I do not own a record player. I cannot guarantee that discs will be click and skip free, although any marks and scratches that might possibly cause such problems will be highlighted clearly in the description.

Extremely Rare 1st Press that Omits the BMI and ASCAP Credits on the Label!!
This auction is for a mono copy of the Beatles debut US LP Meet the Beatles on the Capitol label. This is the extremely rare and highly collectible Variation 1 press that omits the BMI and ASCAP publisher credits on the labels!
Back in 1964 as Capitol were preparing the LP Meet the Beatles they initially did not know the publisher credits for any of the songs. Rather than waste time holding back production to find this out they hastily prepared labels that did not have this information on and sent them off for the initial production run. After this tiny initial run the labels were amended to show the BMI and ASCAP publisher credits and production continued as normal. These "variation 1" presses are the very earliest copies to come off of the production line back in 1964 and were the first to be put out on the shelves on release day. These initial run copies were subjected to the very height of Beatlemania and the vast majority of copies were completely and utterly trashed by fans by playing them over and over again and being careless and knocking into record players when dancing and the like, before being unceremoniously thrown away when it could no longer be played.
It's thought that today only a very small handful of copies of this tiny run are known to have survived, and fab4collectibles.com estimate it at around 20-25 copies.
Not in great condition, but being sold due to how insanely rare these are. Would make a perfect collection filler until a better one comes along.

Title Meet The Beatles Year of Release 1964 Catalogue Number T 2047 Label Black Capitol with Rainbow perimeter Tax Code on Disc - Sleeve Manufacturer 3 (Scranton, Pennsylvania) Side 1 Matrix Number T1-2047-F3 Side 2 Matrix Number T2-2047-G4 Side 1 Stampers - Side 2 Stampers - Sleeve Condition The sleeve is in POOR condition. The sleeve was originally in two pieces, but I've done a crude little repair job with some double sided tape and some paper strips just to hold it back together. Other than that the cover has your usual heavy wear and tear with some light staining and the likes. The photos below tell the best story. If the sleeve wasn't in two parts then it would have been graded a GOOD+ Inner Sleeve Condition The inner sleeve is in FAIR condition. The original blue Capitol inner sleeve is included and is pretty clean with a little browning around the edges. One of the side seams has split right down and the other side seam and bottom seam are both split in the middle most of the wait. The opening has a little wear and there are some light creasing. Inserts Condition - Disc Condition(VISUALLY GRADED) The disc is in FAIR condition. The disc still has some shine to it but is covered in scuffs and marks all over. Like I said above, this disc is being offered due to how rare it is and should be considered a collection filler. Label Condition The labels are in GOOD+ condition. The labels are clean but have wear as you can see in the photos below. There is also some whitening around the centrehole.
All records have been visually graded under a strong, 125W natural light desk lamp.

My Regarding Vinyl Grading:
MINT No true preowned disc can be mint. The highest I will ever grade a disc is NM+/M- if it looks untouched and unplayed, but the MINT description will only be for records I personally know have never been played (i.e. I personally bought from new) or for copies that are still sealed. NEAR MINT (NM) For discs that look near flawless and which may have just the slightest, barely visible little whispy marks here and there. EXCELLENT (EX) For discs that still retain a brilliant, clean shine but does have some light scuffs here and there. VERY GOOD (VG) For discs that still look clean and have a nice shine to them, but do have a fair amount of light scuffmarks and/or some light scratches. GOOD (G) For discs that look like they have been loved and have a fair amount of scuffs and surface scratches. Not in terrible condition, but would look like it would play with a lot of crackle. FAIR (F) For discs that may have some life left in them but are pretty trashed with numerous surface scuffs and heavier scuffs and scratches etc POOR (P) For discs that are unplayable and look completely trashed. Discs like this would only ever be offered if they were insanely rare.
