UK Apple stereo PCS 7088, this their last album but released before 'Let It Be' which was in the hands of Phil Spector to overproduce and ruin it after George Martin had done his usual exemplary work on the recordings (blame John Lennon who had lost interest in the album itself).
Anyway, this is the first pressing of Abbey Road as shown by the dead wax matrices YEX 749-2 and YEX 750-1. A great album as the boys made a concerted effort with George Martin to finish off with an album worthy of their talents and legacy.
The Garrod & Lofthouse fully laminated sleeve is in great clean shape. Strong and sharp cornered with no rips, tears, splits or writing to report. It has some minor laminate shrinkage creases and a hint of ringwear but otherwise is a very nice example. And it has the rarer 'misaligned' apple logo on the rear. Grading the cover for condition I'm happy to give it 8.5 out of 10.
For the inner sleeve, it's a completely sound black poly-lined offering.
Onto the vinyl itself which is flat and shiny and weighs 147g on the scale so is a good weight. The 'Apple logo' labels are quite clean as pictured and please ignore the camera glare for Side 1. Note that 'Her Majesty' credit as the last track is missing.
In room daylight the disc looks nice. Under the evil and unforgiving table light I see light scuffs and hairlines. I'm tempted to rate the disc 8.5 for condition but let's say 8 /10 to err on the safe side.
So in summary, this particular copy of Abbey Road will not shame any collection.
