Description
A DECENT condition shrink wrap copy with the price sticker (original and sale price) still on the jacket. The tight shrink has protected the cover for 50 years and it looks amazing but it does appear to have some light bending - probably from the shrink.
VINYL: VG+ “Background crackle” is audible in the quiet spots like a few seconds at the beginning of ""I Feel Fine" and "I'll Be Back" and the beginning of "She's A Woman." Speaking of which, listen to how much easier it is to hear the piano in the background on this Mono record versus the CD or Stereo mix. You can hear the beautiful echo (reverb) used in "I Feel Fine" that make it sound like a choir of voices behind John's lead when they sing "I'm so glad" then "She's so glad." Of course, there are no skips. It's a pretty good listening experience for all but the most discerning ears. If you want an LP in NM shape this isn't it. If you want one that delivers the rich, deep fidelity you can only get from a mono vinyl record, but has a little crackle and a tick here and there, this is the record for you. Don't bid over $40 and you should be very happy - unless the bidding goes insane - then feel free to join in the madness.
COVER: VG++ Some tiny fraying at the bottom of the opening (or mouth) of the cover and a slight (quarter inch) tear of the shrink in the top left corner caused the bit of fraying on the corner as it became exposed. I removed the record from the cover years ago and that seems to have preserved the cover very well but I tried to show how it caused a bit of "bending" to the cover. The spine looks great though it's hard to show in photos. There are no seam splits.
INNER SLEEVE: The original inner sleeve is intact except for a 2 inch tear in the middle of the bottom seam which is not unusual after 50 years - I should have taken the record out of the original sleeve - but that's the only flaw. This is one of my favorite Beatles inner sleeves because it only has 35 LP's advertised and they include The Beach Boys and Dick Dale, plus it has the "JOIN the teen set" blurb. I love how they asked you to fill in "My 3 favorite recording stars are." What a great example of in-house 60's marketing.
LABELS: No writing or scratches – the spindle holes are ok – the hole on Side 2 has some rubbing that shows some white.
Please note that this record is being sold as-is with no claims of condition for the LP or the jacket. Every stereo is a little different and I am not a professional album jacket grader. I hope that between the photos and my description you can get an idea of the condition but again, it is being sold as-is with no returns. I've done my best to describe the condition but it is being sold as-is. My opinion of the condition may be different from yours and the item is being sold as-is, not on consignment for inspection. With all that said - relax, it's a nice record.
