This auction is for a rare, one-box EMI Parlophone stereo pressing of the Beatles LP 'Rubber Soul'
In 1969 Parlophone underwent two significant changes. Firstly, the 'Sold in the UK' statement was finally removed and then, very shortly afterwards, the whole label design was changed to what is known as the 'silver on black' layout. Initially, for the first 2 years, these labels only carried one EMI logo which was at the bottom. In 1971 a second was added to the top.
These 69-71 'one box' copies were not around for very long and because they were released at the time of Abbey Road, Let It Be and the groups' early solo work the original Parlophone albums, especially the early ones, only sold in tiny, tiny amounts! Today collectors are now realising just how hard to find these are!
I'm currently individually selling a complete stereo run of the one-box albums, from Please Please Me right up to Sgt. Peppers! Check out my other auctions and complete your set today!!

The cover is looking nice with light wear and tear. The front cover has a nice, rich colour to it and has some laminate creases around the edges. There's also a little, light disc impression and rounding of the corners slightly. Top and bottom seams are tight with no wear or splits. Spine has a couple of little laminate creases running through it but is holding tight with no splits or wear and is fully legible. Back cover has yellowed slightly with some light staining at the mouth edge. Overflaps have a few little creases in them but are holding tightly. There's a small sticker from previous owner at the top. A reverend no less! Inner Sleeve: VG+
The original red EMI inner sleeve is included. It's holding well with a good rich red to it. It has yellowed and has disc impression and a little creasing, most noticeably at the mouth edge, but there're no splits or tearing. Disc (Visually Graded Only!!) : EX

The playing surface has a lovely shine to it and just a few, very light little scuffs that are hard to see under the desk lamp. The mark on the side 2 photo above, at the 9 o'clock position, is a hair on the vinyl and NOT a scratch, so just ignore it.

The labels are clean, crisp and clear with bright text. All I can see is a few little, very light spidery spindlemarks and no whitening around the centrehole. Awesome labels!!

All records have been visually graded under a strong, 125W natural light desk lamp.
