This auction is for a rare, one-box EMI Parlophone stereo pressing of the Beatles LP 'Sgt. Peppers'
In 1969 Parlophone underwent two significant changes. Firstly, the 'Sold in the UK' statement was finally removed and then, very shortly afterwards, the whole label design was changed to what is known as the 'silver on black' layout. Initially, for the first 2 years, these labels only carried one EMI logo which was at the bottom. In 1971 a second was added to the top.

These 69-71 'one box' copies were not around for very long and because they were released at the time of Abbey Road, Let It Be and the groups' early solo work the original Parlophone albums, especially the early ones, only sold in tiny, tiny amounts! Today collectors are now realising just how hard to find these are!

Comes complete with its original dark green insert and plain white 'patent No. 125,555' inner!!

The Cover : EX

The cover is looking really nice for its age! The front cover has a lovely, rich, vibrant colour to it with just a little rubbing on the laminate and a few creases, mainly around the edges. The top and bottom seams are holding tightly with no wear or splits. The spine has a little laminate flaking but, overall, is holding fine with no splitting or wear and with fully legible text. The back, again, has a little laminate rubbing and some very light disc impression. There's some light creases in a couple of places in the laminate and a very small, little laminate bubble at the bottom left. The inside is absolutely immaculate with gorgeous, untouched, thick laminate and a full, rich colour. Immaculate gatefold! Overall, holding up very nicely with just a few spots of wear, but nothing at all serious.   Insert: EX+
The original, dark green insert (later ones were light green) is included and is looking really nice with just a few little creases in one or two place.s No stains, no damage or anything. Very nice!

The playing surface has a nice, clean shine to it and has some light scuffs on the playing surface. Nothing at all serious, though. Looking nice!

Labels : EX

The labels are clean with bright, sharp silver text. There's some light spindlewear and a little whitening around the centrehole, but overall the labels are looking really nice!
