First pressing, September 26, 1969. Dark green label with an image of an apple on side 1 and sliced apple on side 2. First label variation have “An E.M.I. Recording” text on two lines and small “33 1/3” text moved to the left side. Publishing year printed with small copyright symbol (p). The label does not have "Her Majesty" credit on the side 2. The labels are quite dark although the actual shade of green varies greatly among copies. The record is housed in plain white inner sleeve. Two types of plain white sleeves Decca (for EMI records), except the black ones, are used then: Both have "patent applied for", but one has "MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN" printed lower right, while the other has "MADE IN ENGLAND" Not sure about these, were the "MADE IN ENGLAND" used for some pressings of Abbey Road and Let It Be? Matrix number: Side 1: YEX 749-2; Side 2: YEX 750-1. (with thanks to "thebeatles-collection.com")
CONDITIONS:
Sleeve: Original 1st press, "Printed and Made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd.", shine glossy, full laminated cover without flaps on the back side. The famous cover design done photo grapher Iain Macmillan. The front cover is standard, John figur? is 115mm.The Apple logo on the back cover is alignment with the title typography! The inner flap is made from the front cover and glued with paste to the back cover.Fully readable slim spine in great condition. The sleeve is holding up fine with no splits, writings or tears, only some nonessential laminate folds. At front right bottom/top edges has very small surface laminate wear. Very light laminate round wear trace. Nice example of this original, 1st press Abbey Road sleeve!
Record: Excellent(+), perfectly flat vinyl. I can define it as better, if there were not a very light surface scuff side 2. No spindle traces on the labels. Lovely deep glossy sheen, No surface hairlines and marks, no any scuffing on side 1, no any deep scratches! Looking really perfect, nice lafter storage for 49 years.! Indeed, it's so difficult to find original vinyls of this condition! Matrix numbers: Side One: YEX 749-2, Side Two: YEX 750-1. Rare mother/stampers, you see 4/MOO and 1/ADG - indeed, an impressive early press!
Audio: Excellent, plays perfect, fine, deep solid stereo sound, with no sticks, jumps, certainly a decent & very playable original 1st press UK copy. Here, there has a couple of light static Pops and may be low/weak surfase noise between some songs at quiter places as well, that is normal, fine for vinyl records near 50 years. I do not hear any noise, but my player system is medium, not the highest professional class quality. After proffesional clining the sound will be even brilliant, near mint.
Inner sleeve: Original inner sleeve EMI (Decca) Plain White Sleeve Type-3-1 (1969? --) in excellent condition, clear, no tears, bends or lettering at all, slight folds, intag sleeve finely corrected. Plain white paper/PATENT No. 1,125,555 / MADE IN ENGLAND in black letters (see pics.). Excellent!
Labels: Excellent, dark green 1st press apple label, without "Sold in U.K ..." text located on top and "("An E.M.I. Recording")" text located on the left. Label have "("An E.M.I. Recording")" text on two lines. The left hand side of the label have a small "33 1/3" credit, "Mfd. in U.K." Publishing year printed with small copyright symbol (p). Stereo only. The label does not have "Her Majesty" credit on the side 2. The labels are clean, the text is bright and full readable, there are no tears, stains, writings, stickers, etc. Both labels havent light spindle traces. Excellent condition.
