Vee Jay THE BEATLES
Version Two MONO

This album was released on or about January 10, 1964. By January 16, Capitol Records was suing. By February, Vee Jay resumed production but Love Me Do and P.S. I Love You were replaced by Please Please Me and Ask Me Why. The copies with the changes are known as Version Two; those without the changes, Version One. About 1,300,000 monos were sold. This is one of the ORIGINALS! It is Version Two with an all black label. Has the left justified titles and the matte black and silver print/finish.

The cover is a gorgeous NEAR MINT-!!! Of course, it has NO splits, NO repairs, NO writing and NO stickers. EVERY corner looks fantastic! The back looks as white as the day it was brought home in 1964! It has all the ORIGINAL characteristics, including the semi-gloss appearance, George's shadow to the right, the professional printing and that 1/4" strip INSIDE the top and bottom of the cover! There is a one inch line on the top upper corner on the back. Might have been a marker and would most likely come off. Also, a little wear at the extreme lower part of cover on the front but really minor!

The record is VG+ to VG++ with VG+ labels. This, of course, has the ORIGINAL features, including "THE BEATLES" above the spindle hole, the dead space less than 7/8" plus the scratched over MR in the dead space! This version likely made in Terre Haute, IN. The label has some squiggly marks on both sides VERY common with the black matte finish.
