Description

Formerly mpsmith...

Hi, I am Mike, I have been a music collector for over 30 years now. My Ebay name has now changed at the request of Ebay for security - little else will change I hope, I will still try to offer the finest and most accurately described and graded records I can find - I pride myself on offering a variety of genres to keep my site as interesting as possible. I will rarely offer any record that falls below a true Excellent grading, unless its of a certain rarity which will justify offering a lesser grade. I try, to the best of my ability to describe as accurately and as honesty as I can all items I offer for sale with all the relevant information I can think of to help any interested collector. You may notice I only submit one or two items a day for Ebay; time rarely allows more as I Play-Grade every record I offer (on a Rega 3 deck with Ortofon cartridge) - visuals alone do not always tell a true or full story - I will mention any defects or flaws no matter how small that I notice to be fair as possible to any interested collector. Every record I offer, whether it be a common or rare item deserves the same respect as far as I am concerned and will be treated the same - just because an item is rare does not always mean its good. A ten pounds record that plays close to new is as important to the collector as a 250 pound record that plays less well. All the pictures I use for your guidance are taken with a digital camera or scanned - they are NOT improved, cleaned-up or made better looking than they are with camera trickery or enhancing with digital programmes. What you see is what you get. I hope the item below is to your liking - any questions can be emailed and I will do my very best to answer you. Good luck.

Please Note: I will now offer any item to the runner-up after the mandatory Ebay 3 days if no contact is made by the winning bidder. The same applies if no payment is received within the mandatory 7 days so any bidder who has just lost out can still email me to reserve the item as priority second chance. Item wants are always welcome - email me with anything needed. I also will buy quality single items or collections of original quality rock, 60s popular, folk, prog, psych and underground etc.

PLEASE READ ALL DESCRIPTIONS AND CHECK PICTURES CAREFULLY FOR ALL THE INFORMATION GIVEN.

Artist or Band: THE BEATLES

Album Title: Abbey Road

Cat Number: PCS 7088 Stereo. Standard aligned Apple logo on back, but no credit for ‘Her Majesty’ on label. I have found this version to be the hardest to find, even scarcer than with the misaligned apple on cover and no credit on label.

Label and Condition: Apple. Beautiful examples of this most famous label. deep rich colour and only very light spindle traces. A light surface mark on side one, but shows little, I doubt if the scan has even seen it. I would imagine this record has been played no more than 2-3 times at most, once by me for that vital play-grading.

Country of Manufacture: England, UK

Rarity Factor: Scarce with the missing credit.

Original Year of Release: 1969

Matrix Nos: YEX 749-2 and YEX 750-1. This one has the tiny press numbers of 9 GDT and 3 RDT respectively.

Album Information: Any serious Beatles collector will know the importance of this copy of ‘Abbey Road’ and its scarcity, especially in top condition. As I have stated many times before, Beatles albums are not rare, they sold in huge numbers - but finding them in superb condition is another matter. People bought their albums and played and played them - that is what they were for, to be enjoyed and loved. Finding 60s records, especially Beatles records with very few plays condition is always a far more difficult matter. Well this record is just that, it looks close to new, an extraordinary one to find - just about my best one yet. Apart from that, this is highly prized copy has NO reference to the final short track ‘Her Majesty’ on the label. (Please check the label scan side 2). So a valued copy in sensational condition, this should please most Beatles collectors needing this scarce record for their collection. I will not give any lengthy details about this classic album - most interested people will know all about it already. It goes without saying it made number one in the UK and US. Side one has elements of individualism whereas side two is more collective: where partworks and fragments are fused together to perfection to construct a breathtaking suite. The whole album is an experience of the ultimate joy of pop music itself. And in the end, the love you make…

Cover Condition and Details: Excellent++, single, laminated both sides, Printed by Garrod & Lofthouse International Ltd. This is a super example of this highly prized Beatles cover - arguably the most famous in music history. It has beautiful deep rich colour and a dazzling mirror-like shine. Wear is only light and appearance is gorgeous, more details are below:

Cover Lamination: Front and back, no lifting, peeling or dry areas. Both sides have a deep shine and have no nasty deep indents. Any dull areas are tiny and minimal and none show unless viewed under angled bright lighting - under normal viewing conditions this laminate looks truly superb. A couple of creases but nothing heavy and only one on the back shows a little unless searched for. This is lovely solid and unyellowed lamination as this was originally kept by a non-smoker.

Cover Front: Simply to say one of the all-time classic front covers. This one is very nice and attractive with little wear. Intense original colour and very clean - this is often seen scratched or dulled with many creases. Well this one has hardly any of these at all. I am being hyper-critical on this one as classic Beatles items deserve the very best. There is a tiny press mark near the bottom skyline between the trees, it shows little really, again unless you look hard for it. Bar this very small mark this front cover is wonderful and looks truly magnificent.

Cover Back: The back of this cover is close to mint apart from those couple of creases - this one will be hard to find much better.

Cover Edges: The edges are close to perfect with no wear under the uncracked laminate. Just a tiny chip on the top. This cover has a very thin spine that is still razor sharp, all its text is pristine under that solid and undamaged laminate. Any cornerwear is light, hardly any at all infact. Maybe just a tiny crease to the front bottom right tip if being hyper-critical. Overall this is a superb example of this very important cover This one should please most collectors.

Vinyl Condition: Do I dare use to the ‘Mint’ for this, well its very close, but I will stick to a Mint(-) - a term I dont use lightly, a stunning copy - super clean and shiny and virtually unmarked. Pressed on very heavy vinyl this copy is hard to fault, it simply looks amazing. My play-grade was a wonderful experience - I have always loved this album (who doesn’t?). The sound quality and detail is breathtaking. Another majestic George Martin production with massive bass on ‘I Want You’(She’s So Heavy), play this loud on a big system and it can shake the foundations. There is not even a hint of any distortion or sound degradation - it simply hasn’t been played many times. There may the odd one groove tick but believe me they are few and very far between, little heard on this one spoilt my total listening experience. This beautiful vinyl experience takes you right into the recording studio - forget CD copies, all the feeling is lost. No Beatles album can sound better than from the source it was made on. This record I feel sure should please most collector, even the connoisseurs who only want their records as close to new as possible. Well there may be better copies of this one around, but I would like to see one.

Track Listing:Come together; Something; Maxwell’s silver hammer; Oh! darling; Octopus’s garden; I want you (She’s so heavy); Here comes the sun; Because; you never give me your money; Sun king; Mean Mr Mustard; Polythene Pam; She came in through the bathroom window; Golden slumbers; Carry that weight; The End. — and, Her Majesty plays on the record but gets no mention on this rare copy.

Album Played For Grading: Yes.

Final Summary: A hugely important album and a scarcer version of it. This is a record that you would only want to buy once - this copy, especially the record itself, is in that ‘Never Need to Upgrade’ condition. A beautiful record - even that gap of silence between The End and Her Majesty is almost dead silent - even I was amazed by this. How many copies can play that good? not too many I would suggest. I make no apology for this lengthy description, this one is important and I have tried to describe it exactly the way it is (warts and all - but this is a princess, not a frog). I hope the winning bidder enjoys it as much as I have - Mike.

Payment Details please read carefully:

Buyer pays: (UK) £2.50 P&P , for first-class delivery with standard £28 insurance. Items that sell over £30 will be sent via Recorded Delivery and Special Delivery for over £55.

Europe: £4. This is covered up to £28 (45 Euros) insurance and would be sent 1st-class airmail. A recorded airmail service is now in place for Europe too: this means any item will be fully covered to its true value, No customs sticker is needed for Europe, so this is a worthwhile investment. This costs extra £3, the item is tracked and the item has to be signed for - I will use this service to Europe as standard for very expensive rare items e.g. records over £75.

USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and other Far Eastern countries etc: £5.50. This is covered up to £28 (43 US Dollars) insurance and would be sent 1st-class airmail. Please note I do not profit on postage (my packing standards are high and the package weighs a little more).

Extra insurance is available for non-UK items but bear in mind I have to state the true value of the item on the parcel and customs would be aware and you may well get charged import duties.

PLEASE NOTE: I will NOT use surface mail, its too slow, with a higher risk of loss and damage.

Overseas bidders please note conversion rates for Pounds to Dollars and Pounds to Euros will be charged at 1.65 to cover PayPal or cash conversions.

PLEASE NOTE: Any PayPal user can now pay me with UK Sterling if they wish with no need to convert to US dollars (although they still can if they wish to). Any instant PayPal transaction from anywhere in the world will mean the item will be sent immediately - it makes deals fast and very efficient.

Mailing Details: All records are sent in plastic covers with the record taken out of the sleeve and sent in professional mailers with a minimum of TWO stiffners for extra protection. More expensive items are also inserted into a de-luxe heavy duty padded bag AS WELL to give that extra protection and three or four stiffners. I truly want ALL my items to arrive to their destination in the same condition they leave me.

Potential Bidders: Please do not bid if you have negative feedback unless checking first, I will cancel any bids I feel are timewasters. I now only accept PayPal, International money orders or cash from overseas bidders (UK Sterling, US dollars or Euros). Cash, cheques, postal orders and PayPal are fine from the UK. I allow maximum 3 days for communication and 7 days for payment to arrive - if this does not happen I will relist the item and may send negative feedback unless an explanation is given. Fast deals get great feedback from me. Any questions - please ask. Please keep watch on my Ebays, I have other intesting items coming very soon. Thanks for looking.

My Guarantee: As listening to every single record I offer all the way through is difficult timewise, can I make it clear if any winning bidder is not satisfied with their purchase I will offer a complete refund minus the Posting and All Ebay costs as long as the item detail has been read and understood. I will not refund if any defect detail is clearly stated on the advert and missed by the buyer. I still endeavour to play all the items in their entirity for grading if at all possible and is usually the case.
