Up for auction is a copy of EMI RECORDS' 1978 "BLUE BOX" BEATLES LP COLLECTION in the original flip-open SIGNATURE BLUE BOX. 

This set is used, but most of the LPs are in EXCELLENT or better condition. I will break down the condition of each LP below, both vinyl and cover.

I have included with this set, a copy of the LP A Collection Of Beatles Oldies on the two-EMI-box Parlophone label.

All of the LP jackets look wonderful. There is no splitting or writing or rips on any of the LP jackets. The majority of the imperfections that exist are the result of storage.

Each and every LP has a beautiful shiny gloss and have been well cared for. Most look NM. There are a couple of discs that have some slight marks on them. I will be as detailed as I can be for the sake of full disclosure.

-WITH THE BEATLES - cover NM, record NM

-A HARD DAY'S NIGHT - cover NM- (two very slight areas of hairline creasing toward the bottom and side), record NM

-BEATLES FOR SALE - cover VG++/EX- (some slight creasing, very slight wear toward cover's mouth, slight wear at the cover's bottom edge, some light storage marks at the Lp cover's upper left corner, a light ding on the cover in Ringo's hair, some wear at the top and bottom of the gatefold crease), record NM

-HELP! - cover NM- (a tiny little ding in the cover at the bottom back), record NM- ( a couple of areas of light surface marks)

-RUBBER SOUL - cover NM- (two very slight areas of hairline creasing toward the bottom and side), record NM

-REVOLVER - cover EX+ (There is a little ding above the track listing on the back), record NM- (some very slight sleeve hairline marks)

-SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND - cover NM, record NM- ( a couple of areas of light surface marks) comes with CUT-OUT sheet

-THE BEATLES (WHITE ALBUM) 2 LPs - cover NM- (only one tiny area of a VERY slight crease on the LP jacket back, otherwise beautiful), records NM, comes with poster and photos

-YELLOW SUBMARINE - cover EX+ (cover is otherwise perfect except for what looks like the very top part a ring mark on the front cover. It isn't ring wear, but rather something that looks to have been a product of its long storage. It is where the LP's record label would be), record NM

-ABBEY ROAD - cover NM, record NM

-LET IT BE - cover EX (There are some light smudge marks that are seen when the LP jacket is tilted under the light. A couple of the marks are visible without having to hold it in the light. There is also some light wear at the LP jackets front left bottom corner. There is some very slight creasing in a couple of areas, as well as a tiny spot of wear on the spine, record NM

-RARITIES (UK version) - cover NM- ( a couple of very tiny areas of wear along the jacket's mouth, record NM.

The BOX itself I am listing in VG- condition (although I could probably call it VG if I weren't being anal about it. :) ). The surface on the front looks pretty darn good, and the embossed lettering and signature are in great condition. There is spotty wear along the edges of the box, particularly the front right edge. There is also a ding on the front right side of the box. There is some wear at all corners of the box, and tiny dings here and there. Still, the box looks pretty good. The flip-back cover is fully attached.

Near Mint (NM) Vinyl is near perfect. At most, a light scuff appears on the record, but it should play without any noise or skips. The record sleeve should also be near perfect with only minor signs of wear. There should be no "ring wear" on the cover. (Ring wear is when the outline of the record inside shows through the sleeve.)

Excellent (EX or VG++) Vinyl should still play with no skips of any kind. There can be some very minor surface scuffs, but they should not affect the sound quality. The record sleeve can have some minor ring wear but it should be mostly in good shape. Also, there can be some minor creases in the corners but no splits in the seams.

Very Good+
(VG+) This is the grading category where the quality of the sound is affected -- there will be some surface noise -- and the vinyl will show wear, including surface scuffs and some light scratches. However, the record is still very listenable as there are no deep scratches that cause skips. On the cover, the corners may be slightly bent, but not broken. There may be wear to the seams but not tears or holes.

Very Good
(VG) Vinyl doesn't necessarily look good, but still plays well enough. Surface noise will probably be present, including pops and clicks. At higher volume levels, the music should overpower any pops and clicks present. There may be seam splitting, but not complete separation of the sleeve panels from each other. There will be noticeable ring wear on the cover, but the cover should for the most part still be in good condition.

Good (VG-) Vinyl is well played and looks it. However, the record should still play without skipping. It will have substantial surface noise, pops and clicks. Loss of various parts of the dynamic range will occur due to worn grooves. This grade depends a lot on the owner and the type of records he or she collects. A rock record may still sound ok at a high volume, but quieter styles of music will be practically unlistenable. The record cover may have many problems including seam splits, tears, and writing on it.

Fair/Poor (F/P) Using the word fair for this quality of record is, in the opinion of RCR, too generous and not recommended since it may be misleading. Records described as fair (F) or Poor (P) in the Goldmine grading system are ones that are basically unlistenable. Surface noise, skips and pops make hearing what's on the record nearly impossible, if not completely impossible. The cover is falling apart, torn, and has writing all over it. The only reason to keep it would be if the record is extremely rare or you want to eventually melt the vinyl and shape it into an ashtray.
