Description

Beatles 3rd State (Peeled) Los Angeles #6 Butcher Cover
Please read entire description/auction terms prior to bidding on this item. Thank You
We recently took this on consignment from a regular customer and if you've been looking for a genuine and authentic 3rd State (peeled)1966 LA #6 Mono Butcher Cover for under 1k, then this might be for you.
Many collectors consider this album the "holy grail" of their record collection. While these jackets may seem costly to the entry level collector, these particular jackets are hard to source in this price range that don't look horrible. They have tended to hold their value over the years. A First State cover sold recently on Ebay for over 12k ! While that is certainly out of reach for most collectors, this offering is certainly more attainable.
Keep in mind that these Los Angeles #6 Butcher Covers, in particular, are way harder to peel and cannot be steamed off. Most have been ruined by amateur attempts at peeling. This particular jacket looks like a better amateur peel that has a few minor abrasions touch ups, etc.
This Butcher Cover is an excellent value that presents well, this offering presents better than most you see in this price range. This jacket has a few condition issues (see detailed description below) but is a great entry level piece that presents well in this price range.
These #6 jackets are much harder to come by in such displayable condition.
Please read the jacket description below for specific details on condition.
Most LA designated 2nd state trunk covers were adhered for Capitol Records by the Modern Album Company during the paste over process with a difficult to remove adhesive. These cannot be "steamed" off. For every nice one that exists, there are probably a thousand bad to mediocre peels. Most of the severely damaged 3rd state covers you see on the internet for sale are improperly peeled LA Jackets. Look around and compare. While this may not be for the ultra picky buyer, it also won't set you back $1500... Please check our positive feedback for customer satisfaction of past sales of genuine Butcher Covers. Also look at realized prices of completed auctions and compare.
This item will be safely and securely double boxed and shipped to you via Priority Mail. Please read complete description prior to bidding.
Condition:
Front of Jacket:

Front Peeled Butcher Slick on this harder to peel #6 Los Angeles jacket presents nicely with a few minor abrasions here and there but nothing too terrible. There appears to be some touch up in these areas. Most notably in the top right hand corner (please see close up photo of this area). Regardless, this still would look great framed !
Please see photos to verify the specific conditions (photos may vary slightly in colors, shading, etc due to different lighting sources used during photography) described and feel free to contact with questions. The item shown is exact item that you will receive and is a decent example of a west coast peel.

Seams:
Top seam shows some chipping and several inches of paper loss throughout but not completely split. Bottom seam is much better with just a small chip of paper in the center missing and one on the end/right corner. To protect the integrity of what remains of these seams and avoid future damage, a record should never be attempted to be forced or stored inside this jacket (See close up photos of seams).
Spine:
Spine also shows some missing paper of several inches here and there with some (but not all) of the spine writing present. (See Spine Top and Bottom photos).
Back Of Jacket:
The back of the jacket displays various writings/doodles in ballpoint ink by original owner and some sticker tears. (see photo of back)
Trunk Slick:
Sorry but no trunk slick included on this one.
Record:
Comes with West Coast mono pressing in Fair visual condition (many scratches/scuffs). Has not been play graded and cannot be guaranteed not to skip, etc. Capitol 1966 Goldenrod West Coast inner sleeve is decent with a small rip at top of inner sleeve and bottom split of several (approximately 4) inches. Sides seem unsplit and intact.
Terms Of Auction/Shipping:
Due to recent inflation and subsequent increases in actual USPS shipping costs, Buyer pays $39.99 for properly packed double boxed priority shipping with tracking. Shipping of such a high value, large package with significant weigh is costly and labor intensive and will likely be more that what is being charged here. Regardless, the cost to you will be capped at $39.99. Bidders with low feedback or new accounts must contact us prior to bidding on this item. Seller reserves the right to cancel bids at any time. Due to the exceptional cost and labor involved in shipping this item, this is being sold "AS IS" and there are No Returns on this purchase. Please review all photos and descriptions and please contact with questions prior to bidding. What you see is what you get. This item has been through a laborious process from the 2nd state to what you see here, and as such, the grading is unique on this item. This cannot be graded like a comic book or a baseball card due to the fact that this jacket has twice been altered from its original state, once by the paste over process at the Capitol Factory and likewise by the peeling/restoration process. Any minor imperfections are from either process. The photos speak for themselves and we do our best to accurately grade these historic artifacts.
Please not that T- Shirt seen in background is NOT INCLUDED in this auction and is for display purposes only.
Thank You !
