FOR AUCTION: THE BEATLES "YESTERDAY AND TODAY" CAPITOL T2553
ORIGINAL 1966 CAPITOL RECORDS MONO LP T-2553 ORIGINAL U.S. PRESSING OF THE RARE, ORIGINAL “BUTCHER COVER”, ONE OF THE RAREST AND MOST COLLECTIBLE ECORD ALBUMS IN THE ROCK PANTHEON! THIS IS A “SECOND STATE”, PASTEOVER COVER, WITH THE TRUNK PHOTO PASTED OVER THE IMAGE OF THE BEATLES SHOWN WITH BUTCHERED BABY DOLLS AND CHUNKS OF MEAT. 1st ISSUE, ORIGINAL 'RAINBOW' CAPITOL LABEL WITHOUT THE 'SUBSIDIARY' INSCRIPTION ALONG THE PERIMETER OF THE LABEL. THICK VINYL PRESSING AND THICK CARDBOARD COVER. COVER IS IN VG++ CONDITION WITH A PARTIALLY SPLIT BOTTOM SEAM AND A 2" SPLIT TO THE SPINE. THE FRONT COVER SLICK ONLY HAS LIGHT WEAR AND SOME AGE DISCOLORATION!
RINGO'S TURTLENECK IS VISIBLE TO THE RIGHT OF THE TRUNK.
VINYL IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, EASILY THE CLEANEST COPY WE'VE SEEN OF THIS MONO PRESS YEARS! THERE ARE A FEW LIGHT SURFACE SCRATCHES/SCUFFS BUT OTHERWISE, IT LOOKS ALMOST NEW! IT PLAYS WITH LIGHT SURFACE NOISE WHICH IS AUDIBLE BETWEEN TRACKS.
MATRIX NUMBERS IN DEAD WAX ARE: T1-2553-G8 #2 and T2-2553-F7 #3 THE TRIANGULAR SYMBOL IN THE DEAD WAX AGREES WITH THE #3 SYMBOL ON THE BACK COVER INDICATING THAT IT WAS PRESSED ON THE EAST COAST AROUND THE DATE OF 6/15/66.
INCLUDES THE ORIGINAL YELLOW CAPITOL INNER SLEEVE.
FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NEVER OWNED OR SEEN A 2nd STATE BUTCHER COVER, WE HAVE INCLUDED SEVERAL VISUAL AIDS FOR YOUR EDUTAINMENT. FIRST IS THE SCAN OF THE FRONT COVER AS IT NORMALLY LOOKS. NEXT IS A HIGH-CONTRAST VERSION OF THE SAME SCAN TO HIGHLIGHT RINGO'S BLACK TURTLENECK. THE THIRD PICTURE IS A PHOTOSHOPPED COMPOSITE OF THE BUTCHER PHOTO FROM ANOTHER SOURCE SUPERIMPOSED ROUGHLY WHERE IT IS POSITIONED UNDER THE FRONT COVER SLICK. FINALLY, WE HAVE PROVIDED A PHOTO FROM THE BEATLES "RARITIES" COVER OF THE BUTCHER PHOTO BY ITSELF. PRETTY COOL, HUH?

PLEASE NOTE: WE PACK OUR LPs WITH LOTS OF ADDED PADDING, USING OTHER EMPTY LPs SLEEVES TO REINFORCE THE MAILER AND PROTECT THE ITEM BEING SHIPPED. THIS ADDS CONSIDERABLY TO THE WEIGHT AND, THEREFORE, TO THE COST OF SHIPPING.
RECORD GRADING POLICY
MINT = like new or near new with only one or two small insignificant defects, a 9 or better on a 1-10 scale
EXCELLENT = Would be Near Mint, except for a couple of light hairlines or scuffs, which do not affect play
VG++ = still a very nice record with all or nearly all of its original gloss but may have a few more light, surface marks, hairlines, needle tracks or the like which should not materially affect play
VG+ = a nice, but used record that may have a series of light scuffs or scratches. It probably plays with a few pops, but has no serious problems.
VG = a well-used record that still should sound OK when played, but may have moderate surface noise, pops, etc.
VG- = a very well-worn record that plays through without skipping, but will do until a better copy comes along.
Good = not actually good at all but probably will play through but with much in the way of surface noise, pops, crackles, etc. Still, will have no cracks, chips or the like
Fair = you are getting this record just to own but not to play
Poor = the sky's the limit, generally I will discard a record this bad (and sell the cover, jacket or sleeve alone) unless the label holds some particular interest

PLEASE NOTE: We have set our shipping prices to cover costs on an average basis. You may be charged slightly more - or less - than the actual cost of postage; Priority postage varies according to destination, records and jackets vary in weight, all of which makes it impossible to set an exact "correct" price for all customers, especially internationally. We ship all LP's in new (unused) custom LP mailers. We pack records with filler pads, placing the disc in an inner sleeve outside the cover to prevent seam splitting in transit. Part of our postage fee covers the cost of the mailer and pads (which currently costs us up to a dollar per).
