Description
Original Capitol Records MONO "Beatles '65". Released 15 December 1964. Spizer version CAP 2228.MR1A. Manufactured under contract by RCA; Capitol farmed out some of their manufacturing to other companies at times (such as Decca, RCA, Columbia etc.) due to not being able to keep up with demand for Beatles records. A beautiful copy for any Beatles collector. Someone took very nice care of this LP over 50+ years.
This copy is visually graded at VG to VG+ (record) and VG ++ (cover) using the visual grading standards of the Cox/Daniels "Price Guide For The Beatles American Records" (6th edition). These grading standards tend to be more stringent than Goldmine. See my various photos of the cover and record. I grade conservatively using a bright light so the buyer knows exactly what they are bidding on.
Record -
A few small shallow scratches and several minor hairlines (likely from pulling the record out of the sleeve multiple times); the hairlines can only really seen by holding the vinyl up to very bright light at the right angle. Record plays cleanly through with no skips or other issues, though. The labels are very clean with no writing. Even the spindle hole is almost Mint.
Cover -
Very nice east coast ("2") cover with bright white seams and nice front emerald green color. Seams and spine are fully intact. What may be some prior tape residue is apparent at the "T 2228" and adjacent DOT at the front's upper right corner and a spec of missing color b/w the "6" and "5" below "RINGO". An extra photo is posted to show this in detail. No mold or water stains and no ink/writing. If not for these minor issues, one could easily grade the cover as NM-.
Album will be shipped in a rigid cardboard mailer for protection. Payment is due within 3 days of the auction's end. Great piece of rock and roll history! Please see my other Beatles items for sale.
