The Beatles' single Can't Buy Me Love / You Can't Do That (Capitol 5150) was released on March 16, 1964. Its picture sleeve is the rarest of all the Capitol sleeves and near mint copies sell for as much as $500.00. Twelve variations and reissues exist of the disc. The originals were issued on the orange/yellow swirl label and do not have the words "Subsidiary of..." in the perimeter print.
The single was reissued in 1968, adding the "Subsidiary of..." print to the label. One year later it was issued again, on Capitol's red and orange "target" label. It was released on the Apple label in 1971 with 3 minor print variations. In 1976 it came out on the orange Capitol label, in 1978 the purple Capitol label, in 1981 Capitol's blue Starline label, a black Starline label in 1986, and finally the purple Starline label in 1988.
The sleeve is in great condition but does have part of the store price sticker with what looks like gum residue staine by the "do that" area. see pic.
Rec is in nice condition, no writing & has the mfg by capitol rec on the lable.
