Description
The Beatles vs. The Four Seasons
Vee Jay Records DXS 30 The International Battle Of The Century
Cover VG+ ... Not perfect and not without blemishes but this thing is so RARE .. I have only seen this one in my whole 40 + years of collecting.
Cover Front ... "Sherman" written lightly in upper right hand area. 1/4" Characters about 1 3/8" long. You may not even notice upon first glance and I have been successful in removing most of the "S" with light erasure application. I will leave that duty to the next owner.
Cover Bottom ... very clean with only 1/4 " scar close to the opening on the right hand side of the top cover .. another slightly bumped inside corner.
Spine ... remarkable condition with only slight bruise on bottom near the fold.
Inside Gatefold: all graphics, photos etc are incedible condition. There is an inside split in the middle obviously as a result of the shifting weight of the disc. There is no color fading or annoying yellow spots usually visible in record covers of this era.
Back Cover: Some nimrod wrote number "50" in lower left and "70" to rate his grade for each group's indivdual score. The same person apparently graded each of the tracks with the same light blue ball point. The numbers have since been partially erased by a previous owner.
This cover is by no means trashed .. we have descibed as many of the visual flaws as possible and personally would rate the cover with a medium VG+ grade.
Vinyl .. VJLPS 1062 Beatles / Side One is a sturdy VG++ and Side Two has a couple of areas that show some scuffing and spindle marks VG+. This record still has unbelievable lustre and was incredibly not abused from a poor stylus .. the playback on each side would slot at VG++.
VJLPS 1065 Four Seasons / Side One is VG .. a lot of the crap records we see on Ebay would pull this one in at EX or VG++ but it has some notable scuffing and one skip on the second the second track of the first side. This disc shows some play wear but still has better than average fidelity and low background distraction except for the one skip from the feelable scratch or needle drop on "I've Cried Before" .. If there is any consolation to that situation, it would be that the song sucked. Side Two VG+ + on a visual inspection plays back with very very minimal background noise only heard in song breaks.
