This is a superb pressing of the classic Beatles album. An extremely rare complete 1st UK pressing, with great vinyl, TOP AUDIO and a great cover.

Help! is the fifth British and ninth American album by The Beatles, and the soundtrack from their film of the same name. Produced by George Martin for EMI's Parlophone Records, it contains fourteen songs in its original UK form, of which seven appeared in the film Help!. These songs took up the first side of the vinyl album and included the singles "Help!" and "Ticket to Ride". The second side contained seven other releases including the most covered song ever written, "Yesterday".

The American release was a true soundtrack album, mixing the first seven songs with orchestral material from the film. Of the other seven songs which were on the British release, two were released on the US version of the next Beatles album, Rubber Soul, two were back-to-back on the next US single and then appeared on Yesterday and Today and three had already been on Beatles VI.

The album features Paul McCartney's "Yesterday", arranged for guitar and string quartet and recorded without the other group members, which even by Beatles standards was incredibly popular. John Lennon's "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away" indicates the influence of Bob Dylan and includes classical flutes. While several compositions on 1964's Beatles for Sale, as well as "I'll Cry Instead" from A Hard Day's Night, had leaned in a country and western direction, McCartney's "I've Just Seen a Face" was almost pure country, taken at such a fast tempo that it might have been bluegrass if not for the absence of banjo and fiddle.

"Ticket to Ride", also released as a single, was felt by Lennon to be "heavy" in its sound compared to the group's previous output and daring in its reference to a boy and girl living together. McCartney called the arrangement "quite radical".

ALBUM PLAYED FOR GRADING:

Yes – brilliant!  sound quality throughout! Absolutely Top Stunning Audio! Not a single loud click or pop. This rare record plays up to its visual grading and beyond.  Super clear strong sound, this beautiful record plays with vibrant, TOP audio throughout. Strong, undistorted sound, the frequencies are sharp and clear, it plays with amazing bright sound! The channels are clean and unstressed with NO evidence of any groove wear whatsoever. NO obvious sound blemishes were found during playback, and every minute of this great album has been tested.

The music jumps out with definition and clarity. I'll give a detailed account below:

Beginning with the iconic 'Help', the music comes in with great clear audio, no pops or clicks and nice clean run ins. Moving into the wonderful 'The Night Before', which demonstrates The Beatles early subtle production layering with notes and effects that are usually lost on most even relatively played vinyls. Here the audio sings out with amazing clarity. Super clear audio, no pops or clicks and barely any detectable static. 'You Got To Hide Your Love Away', a real test on this album due to its many layered quiet sections sings out with very little static in the run ins and quiet areas. There's barely any audible static at all. Great music with great clarity, and so hard to find with this type of sound. Still no loud pops or clicks during the music, and not a hint of distortion. In fact I may as well confirm now that there is not a hint of distortion anywhere on this great vinyl. 'I Need You' and 'Another Girl' maintain the same high standard with no pops of clicks or obvious surface sound at all, just a bit of very light static at the very end of the track.

The classic 'You're Gonna Lose that Girl' plays with great clear sound. Superb clear bright sound, just some very light very occasional background static. Amazing. Leading back into the paired down 'Ticket to Ride' , the vinyl again plays with super clear sound, amazing for such a paired down audio. There is a very slight amount of static in the runout, but no pops or clicks just   super clear sound.

Side 2. comes in with 'Act Naturally', following some light static during the run ins, and again in 'Its only Love' the audio is superb, with barely any static and crystal clear vocal layering. 'You Like me Too Much', also sings out, with great clarity and an amazing lack of surface sound. Another track that is often blighted with loud pops, clicks, buzzing crackle and distortion, but not here. 'Tell Me what You See' sounds just superb and leads into 'I've just Seen A Face', another quiet track and again a real vinyl audio test, just sounds so clear. Just some very light barely audible static in the middle of the track. All the way through every track plays with incredible definition.

The complex arrangements in 'Yesterday' play so well, with great audio precision. There are no clicks, obvious noises or interference anywhere on this great pressing, makes this a truly incredible collectable press of this great MONO record. 'Yesterday' plays superbly with barely any static at all. Just some very distant occasional surface sound. Incredible for this delicate classic. Rounding off with the raucous 'Dizzy Miss Lizzy', it plays superbly, super clear and extremely loud sound, maintaining the high audio standard set by every other tracks on this lp. The music jumps out, with definition and clarity, the vocals which come through with tremendous power. The tonal quality make this a sensational pressing. With the clear and extra loud First cut Mono engineering giving the audio a vibrant sound which cannot be beaten.

The record plays with staggering power, with hardly any surface sound during the tracks.  The music jumps out, with definition and clarity, particularly on the percussion instruments, and vocals which come through with tremendous power. As is the same with the bass guitar and drums, whilst the guitars come through crisp and clear.
Super strong sound with minimal distractions, the album plays right through with absolutely NO repeating unwanted noises what so ever, NO pops or clicks at all, and some very light occasional static! Even the delicate 'Yesterday' plays with barely any audible static. A great all round example of this great Beatles vinyl, and a staggering first MONO mix, unlike the re-issues that lack the impact and the clarity of this amazing sound.
This is a great Audio pleasure and I would have to give the Audio an  EXCELLENT PLUS to NEAR MINT grading.

THE RECORD

A lovely piece of glossy vinyl. On initial inspection this record looks un marked. Only when put under the spotlight can a few ultra light sleeve removal marks, but nothing heavy and nothing that interrupts the sound. There are NO marks on this vinyl that would even come close to creating an audio disturbance. Guaranteed! This vinyl has an amazing lustre, deep grooves that show no grove wear and no signs of over playing, that is clear from the amazing clear sound. This vinyl has been very little played.

Graded at EXCELLENT PLUS to NEAR MINT

THE LABELS

Both labels are in great condition, with no obvious spindle traces at all, and NO wear around the spindle hole! In fact side two looks like there are NO spindle traces at all, and I'm really struggling to make out a few tiny lines on side 1. (a few militants long and barley visible) The K T tax credits are still black and un worn. Great  examples of this rare classic 1st press.

VINYL TESTED FOR ANY SIGNS OF WARPING:

Yes, NONE visible what so ever when tested be sight and on a moving turntable.

THE COVER

Printed by Garrod and Lofthouse the album cover features the group with their arms positioned to spell out a word in flag semaphore. According to cover photographer Robert Freeman, "I had the idea of semaphore spelling out the letters HELP. But when we came to do the shot the arrangement of the arms with those letters didn't look good. So we decided to improvise and ended up with the best graphic positioning of the arms."

It is extremely hard to find an original 1st press cover of Help in anything like decent condition. This is a lovely example with only barely any corner wear or light creasing to the laminate.

'Help' covers have to be one of the most prone to wear, of all the classic Beatles vinyls from the sixties. The laminate is prone to cracking and lifting, with serious ring wear and destruction to the edges. The unlaminated back is usually heavily marked and the spines are nearly always flattened, worn and un readable. Not this one!

The opening edges are very square and un frayed, with none of the usual splits at the opening, which these nearly always have. The white areas are very white, with no obvious blemishes. The back cover is nice and clean, with no discernible ring wear, which is very unusual for these delicate covers. The rear cover is largely unmarked, just some slight age toning around the edges

The Spine shows minimal wear only, with no cracks and clearly defined 'pinched ends.' The spine text is totally intact, and is one of the squarer examples I have seen. A great example. All round, this is a really nice cover!!!

Graded at EXCELLENT.

THE INNER

Comes with Original First Press Inner Sleeve with Polythene Lining. Great condition, just some light yellowing and creasing with No splits at the top. States: "USE EMITEX..." & "IMPORTANT - TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOUR MICROGROOVE RECORDS ..."

EXCELLENT condition, NO tears around the die cut openings. Crisp and Clean.

RARITY

A 1st pressing of HELP in decent type of condition is scarce. The vinyl is so often played so much, heavily marked, scratched, with noisy, poor and distorted sound. Any 1st examples with a record in this type of condition, that plays with great clear uninterrupted audio is extremely rare.

1st UK Yellow and Black original pressings of HELP are getting rarer by the day. Finding one in TOP all round Excellent to Near MINT condition is near impossible, and a 1st pressing with stunning crystal clear audio and makes this a very rare opportunity.

This is an Original 1st Uk Press from 1965 with original inner sleeve and great original pressed vinyl. With original Yellow and Black Parlophone Labels with the rarer K T Tax Credit,  the 1st press label design and the correct 1st press cover. Finding a pressing in this condition is VERY RARE Indeed. A wonderful example of this classic early Beatles classic album!

A FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY TO OWN AN EXTREMELY RARE PIECE OF MUSICAL HISTORY.

SCRUPULOUS EXAMINATION and TESTING:

All our records are play tested on highly sensitive equipment to ensure the sound quality and accuracy of description. We aim to give a precise and concise description of the sound, pointing out the slightest defect so that you know exactly what you are buying. We aim to describe all records as accurately as possible, and offer a full refund on return if for any reason you are not completely happy with the item description.

VINYL SOUND - PLEASE NOTE:

Highest quality vinyl with clear sound is rare, and what we always aim for. We only sell records that play with TOP AUDIO performance; super clear sound uninterrupted by hiss or other interference. Even with the cleanest pressing you will find occasional static or occasional light tics during playback, caused by a build of dust in the grooves. This is clearly different from the distortion, loud pops, repeating tics or clicks that are found on heavily played and worn pieces of vinyl. Any static build up will reduce when played, and we advise a light clean between plays for optimal performance.
