HESSY'S RECORD STORE SLEEVE & STORE BAG
Hessy's was one of the main suppliers of musical instruments and records in Liverpool.
The shop was run by Frank Hessy and Jim Gretty.
Gretty was the man who sold John Lennon His first real guitar for £17.00 in 1957,gretty prided himself as a salesman and boasted that he would give any purchaser a free guitar lesson of three basic chords...it is not known if Lennon made use of the lesson.
When Brian Epstein took over the management of the group one of is first tasks was to settle the outstanding bill that the group has with Hessy's for other instruments that they had purchased... the bill is believed to have been around £200.00!!
Offered for sale is an original and very rare "HESSY'S" card record sleeve and original store paper bag .
The genuine 10 inch sleeve, which features deep purple text is in excellent condition with some mild handling marks and signs of age visible (but nothing severe or serious) but the sleeve is completely intact and free from any writing.
The striped store bag is very very good, it does display some creases and some signs of age and at some point the bag has suffered from a split to the front but this has been repaired internally so it is not to visible. The bag is very clean and is free from any writing.
A very rare and unique opportunity to aquire two genuine pieces of memorabilia now highly regarded as an integral part of The Beatles original Liverpool history.
