RARE!! PROMO LABEL & STICKER ON BACK COVER
This item is an original vinyl LP pressing of the album entitled Menlove Avenue by John Lennon, released by Parlophone Records in 1986. Named after the street where John grew up in Liverpool, this album is a collection of recordings from the 1973-74 period, encompassing the sessions for both the Walls and Bridges and the Rock ‘n’ Roll albums. Side one features five tracks from the Rock ‘n’ Roll sessions, with two Lennon compositions (which would not fit in with the theme of the album as eventually released) and three takes of classic songs not included on the original album. The second side features five tracks from Walls and Bridges recorded live in the studio, with a band including Klaus Voorman on bass, Jim Keltner on drums and Jesse Ed Davis on guitar. While the Rock ‘n’ Roll tracks are not amongst the best work Lennon has done, the tracks from Walls and Bridges – my favorite Lennon solo album – crackle with an intensity only hinted at in the studio recordings released on the Walls and Bridges album. As a side-note, the cover art is by Andy Warhol and is visually striking. This is a great collectible of interesting material for Lennon and Beatles fans.
The vinyl is in beautiful near-mint condition. The cover is in excellent condition, as shown in the photo.
