This, a ‘working copy’ (my other copy only being opened less than half a dozen times in 43 years) is an original, (almost) complete, extremely scarce and authentic copy of the much sought after Let It Be presentation Box Set (PXS 1) by The Beatles from 1970 (stereo, PCS 7096). 

Initial pressings of this album were a total joy, coming complete with a gorgeous book and first pressing 2U/2U matrices copy of the Let It Be album all carefully housed in a fragile three-section laminated box. Unfortunately many were mistreated and others simply fell to bits!

This is a rare surviving example in strong VG plus condition which nevertheless bears one or two inevitable scars of age which I will acquaint you with, if you will bear with me.

Firstly, the outer laminated slip case has some light creasing and some surface marks to the laminate, as well as some white paper showing through on the top front. Elsewhere on the outer box is the odd bit of corner/edge wear, on all four corners. There is a small white spot on back, near top, where laminate has been scratched away. Most of these boxes outer’s will have been crushed or torn over the years so in fact this is a perfectly reasonable example for its age.

The lovely box houses a black printed cardboard 'inner box section' which is in very good plus condition although there are some minor creases to the flaps, and some white edges all around. The back shows finger marks where it has been held over the past 43 years. This one is an earlier on e with ‘rounded’ flaps, as opposed to ‘rectangular’ flaps.

 In turn this section cradled an extremely delicate die-cut and perforated inner tray section. This inner tray section was extremely fragile and few have survived.

It, in turn, houses the Let It Be book which was always far too heavy to contain it - an engineering disaster! I have always kept the book in a plastic book bag to safeguard it and the inner tray. Most of the time it has lain flat to stop weight damage to the inner tray.

The laminated, unavailable-elsewhere, Let It Be book is in excellent condition as well as being an essential acquisition for any fan of The Beatles. This copy is complete, (printed copyright page – not the stuck in one). Unlike most this copy has not started to fall to bits. There are no loose pages and the spine is near perfect; this copy has hardly been looked at.

The disc itself is housed in a unique first pressing box set cover which features the famous RED apple logo on the rear. This fully laminated red apple cover is in a strong VG plus condition, very flat but with the inevitable very slight impression of the disc showing and just a little corner (two) and edge/spine wear, but all the text on the spine clearly showing. There is a small bit of black missing before the word Apple; showing the white paper underneath (5mm).

The rare thickly-pressed first edition disc with its first pressing 2U/2U matrices unique to the box set is also in strong VG plus condition with a beautiful black sheen to the vinyl and only light surface marks. Housed in its original white inner sleeve.

This was, as I said, a ‘working copy’; one to take around to friends etc., to show it off; my other sat safely at home. At £39/11 it wasn’t cheap to have two copies!

In all this is a presentable and totally complete VG plus package of the very first box set presentation pressing of Let It be by The Beatles.
