BEATLES LET IT BE BOX SET – PSX1
Let It Be was The Beatles next to last recording, but released as their final album as the group could not agree whether to issue it at all considering the bad vibes surrounding the sessions. Finally reproduced for disc by US producer Phil Spector, it was released in spring 1970. It of course sailed to the top of the charts. The album was accompanied by a movie documentary (never officially released). Shortly after the release, McCartney officially announced the demise of the band.
The original name of the project was Get Back. The Beatles intended to release the album by that name in the summer of 1969, but this was eventually scrapped when the band wanted to release Abbey Road first.
Let It Be was finally issued in May 1970 as a lavish box set album package including a book. The deluxe album package now known as the Let It Be Box was on sale for a limited period, following which the album was issued as a single LP only.
The PSX1 designation was for ordering purposes; the number is not stated anywhere on the package. The box set was designed by John Kosh.
On offer for sale is a 1970 UK Let It Be Box Set that is in overall very good plus condition. These Box Sets are scarce and the materials used are fragile. It is a rare opportunity to find one in any state.

The 1st issue dark green Apple labels are in very good plus condition.There are spindle marks present as this record has obviously received play. The labels are clean, there is no writing. The vinyl is very good plus as well. The record has some hairline marks and light scratch marks, however none that affect play. There are no jumps present at any point. The vinyl lies flat on the turntable. There is some background noise during play, but a proper cleaning should remedy this. Note: I have not yet tried to clean the record/package in any way in order not to interfere with how you want to proceed with that.
The correct Garrod and Lofthouse full laminated album sleeve has seen better days. The spine has a 2 inch tear, the opening shows feathering. There are some creases and ringmarks. The sleeve has the correct 1st issue red apple on the back. The white inner sleeve is die cut. I presume this is not the original inner, which in itself is in excellent condition with only the inevitable corner creases present.
The outer fully laminated slip case is in excellent minus condition, remaining strong and rigid. The only flaws are a small split in the lower left corner and a corner bump in the upper ricgt corner. There are of course the inevitable laminate creases. The back credit has the correct ‘Patends Pending’ credit.
The flimsy outer tray is in overall excellent minus condition.There is some inevitable rubbing to the edges and upper right corner creasing caused by handling. The two large flaps are in excellent plus condition with only a minor crease on the upper right side. The inner book tray looks to be a replacement tray. These very fragile components did not survive that well.
The Get Back book is excellent. There are no loose pages, unlike the majority of these books. There are some corner creases, as you would expect from a book that is almost 40 years old. The inner pages are clean. There is no writing. The book’s spine is rigid and virtually unmarked.
All in all this item for sale is a very good plus example of a very rare and most wanted Beatles collectible.
