ITEM DESCRIPTION: Genesis Publications Beatles books. Two volumes in signed limited edition set. Liverpool Days (1994) and Golden Dreams (1996). Each book in its own slipcase and then seated in the external black and white heavy cardcover case with picture of the Beatles. All specially designed. Both books limited to 2500 copies and signed by Max Scheler and Astrid Kirchherr. This is a rare matching pair, numbered, 1543. Filled with rare Beatles photos.
In 1964, two photographers from Hamburg, Max Scheler and Astrid Kirchherr, travelled to England. They were to photograph the Beatles who were busy making A Hard Day's Night. They were also to visit Liverpool to photograph the young struggling beat groups, The Cavern Club and homes and parents of the Beatles. The assignment was approved by The Beatles because Astrid was their dear friend who had been engaged to Stuart Sutcliffe, the bass player of the early Beatles, who had died so tragically in Hamburg. LIVERPOOL DAYS is an extraordinary collection of unpublished photographs showing The Beatles relaxing at home and around the set of A Hard Day's Night. It contrasts their new found fame with life in Liverpool in and around The Cavern Club and their homes and the streets and haunts where they and countless other hopefuls spent their youth. GOLDEN DREAMS is a photographic journey accompanying The Beatles during the filming of A Hard Day's Night in Liverpool, 1964. The limited edition book presents Astrid Kirchherr and Max Scheler's unpublished pictures of The Beatles, the Liverpool music scene's early-60s explosion, and the phenomenon of the Merseybeat. 122 each pages; both books signed by Astrid Kirchherr and Max Scheler. Both books also numbered 1543. Very rare to have these two books as a matching set with the same numbers.
Both books are in very near mint condition. There is some very feint and minor spotting on the spine of Liverpool Days. The bookmark for Liverpool Days is also slightly creased. Please see photos. The two individual slipcovers are very near mint. The larger outer slipcover has a closed split at the top R/H edge. I'm sure this is repairable, but I have never tried to. It was like this when I bought it, years ago, and I've just left it alone. The outer slipcover also has the most minor of handling/shelfwear. Not dints or scratches just very minor grubbiness. All in all, a stunning set with the usual quality we have come to expect from Genesis Publications.
The book will be very well packed and sent out on Saturday morning after payment clears. I'm afraid I can only send items out on a Saturday morning.
