BEATLES LP PLEASE PLEASE ME Y/B PARLOPHONE MONO AUSTRALIAN
RARE MONO yellow black PARLOPHONE in lovely EX/EX- condition 1963
On offer is a lovely condition BEATLES LP - PLEASE PLEASE ME released in AUSTRALIA in MONO on the yellow-black PARLOPHONE label PARLOPHONE PMC0- 1202 in 1963. The matrix numbers of the disc are – XEX 421 – 1N & - XEX 422 – 1N.
This 1ST PRESS example dates to circa December, 1963, when Australian EMI changed the print on the label rim to indicate that they were manufacturing their own LP's. These 1st press Austrealian manufactured LPs – (of which this example for sale here is one) have the words on the label rim "Made in Australia by E.M.I. (Aust.) Limited." At the same time the sleeves were no longer the same as their UK counterpart – in that there are several subtle differences – The word ‘mono’ is NOT indicated on the front sleeve / There is no photographer credit on the front cover - it is on the bottom of the flip-back on the back cover instead / The sleeve is not laminated (front or back) / The back cover has the text laid out differently from the UK – and is in light blue.
According to the website – A guide to Australian Parlophone LPs – the 1963 MONO yellow / black Please Please Me (with the unique Australian cover) is currently valued at 250 Australian dollars – which equates to 140 UK pounds / 150 Euros. It is certainly is a very desirable BEATLES artefact and this example is in lovely condition.
This is a lovely condition original Beatles LP as follows –
- The front non- laminated picture sleeve cover is in nice EX/EX- condition with some creasing to the bottom right hand corner. I have kept this LP in a plastic cover for over 30 years which has helped to protect it well over the years.
- The back (non-laminated cover) is also in nice EX/EX- condition with some evidence of ring wear.
- The disc is in lovely EX condition – with a nice sheen to it and beautifully clean, clear vinyl. The labels are also very clear and clean – it is a lovely disc.
- The disc is housed in a ‘Use Emitex’ inner.
Overall this is a nice example of this rare Beatles AUSTRALIAN mono yellow black Parlophone LP – which is hard-to-find in the lovely condition that this LP is in.
