Description
The very first UK release of The Beatles "Magical Mystery Tour" musicassette in June 1973, in the metallic all-gold inlay design in superb excellent condition. Identified by its yellow paper labels, and 1 and 7/8ths ips circular mark on the top of the spine as well as its metallic gold inlay.
In lovely superb condition - plays perfectly. Excellent. The cleaness and crispness of the inlay suggests it has not, or hardly been played at all. None of the usual bubbling to paper labels on both sides. Condition of inlay matches condition of shell/labels.
This first, June 1973, release of MMT in cassette form came in both lime green/yellow and yellow paper label formats - the lime green/yellow ones paper ones being an earlier hangover design from the September/ October 1970 first release of all the other Beatles cassette albums. The first release of MMT in cassette form was delayed for three years, probably due to its lesser popularity at the time - (it has fared better with time). Later reissues has ink-imprinted song titles on the cassette shells.
This first cassette release features true stereo mixes of "Penny Lane", "Baby You're a Rich Man" and "All You Need Is Love", and was issued ahead of the UK Parlophone vinyl edition in 1976. That is - true stereo mixes as opposed to mono enhancements which were featured on the US master.
Curiously this inlay has a spelling misprint on the foldover. Available is spelt "avaliable" in the text "ALSO AVALIABLE ON 8 TRACK CARTRIDGE". (See Photo). Misprints were not soley confined to Beatles vinyl products.
The black box EMI/Parlophone logo is missing, as a shortage of expensive letterpress blocks resulted in a number of Beatles cassette albums having it omitted. Unusual.
A 42 year old Beatles item in excellent condition. The buyer will not be disappointed.
