·       BEATLES - MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR - INSANELY RARE  ORIGINAL 1967 CAPITOL MONO LP MAL-2835.

·       ORIGINAL US PRESSING

*** STILL SEALED MONO PRESSING  GUARANTEED TO BE THE ORIGINAL FIRST PRESSING ON THE LEGENDARY "RAINBOW" (MULTICOLORED) CAPITOL LABEL, SUCH AS THE ONE SHOWN BELOW, FROM OUR PREVIOUS AUCTION  ***.

·       ONE OF THE GREATEST,  RAREST AND MOST COVETED ROCK ALBUMS IN EXISTENCE

·       MONSTROUSLY RARE MONO PRESSING, MANY TIMES RARER THAN STEREO

·       GUARANTEED ORIGINAL BLACK CAPITOL LABEL WITH MULTICOLORED SPECTRUM (“RAINBOW) BAND ALONG THE LABEL’S EDGE AND CAPITOL’S LOGO ON TOP (12 O’CLOCK POSITION) OF THE LABEL

·       IF THE WINNING BIDDER IS LUCKY, HE WILL FIND A VERY RARE “SCRIPT” VERSION OF THE GATEFOLD COVER INSIDE (THE INSCRIPTION “NO, YOU’RE NOT” UNDER THE SONG ‘I’M A WALRUS’ APPEARS AS IF HAND-WRITTEN (ON MOST COPIES IT IS PRINTED, LIKE THE REST OF THE TEXT). CONSPIRACY THEORISTS HAVE LONG ATTRIBUTED SOME CRYPTIC, HIDDEN MEANING TO THIS BIT OF HIGHLIGHTED TEXT, NOTABLY THAT THIS MEANT THAT PAUL McCARTNEY WAS NOT THE “REAL” PAUL McCARTNEY (THUS "NO, YOU'RE NOT") BECAUSE HE WAS OSTENSIBLY KILLED IN A CAR CRASH THE YEAR EARLIER. THE SCRIPT EMPHASIS ON THIS PARTICULAR SEGMENT OF THE TEXT APPEARS TO SIGNAL UNUSUAL SIGNIFICANCE SOMEONE ATTRIBUTED TO IT.  WE ESTIMATE THAT THE ODDS THAT THIS SEALED COPY IS A "SCRIPT" COVER ARE ABOUT 30%.

·       THE THICKNESS OF THE VINYL, THE APPEARANCE AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE COVER, LABEL’S LOGO AND OTHER PERIPHERAL ELEMENTS OF THE COVER, ARE ALL PERFECTLY CONSISTENT WITH THE ORIGINAL, FIRST PRESSING OF THIS TITLE.

·       ONE “BREATHE” (AIR) HOLES NOTED ON THE SHRINK WRAP

·       THIS IS THE ORIGINAL, AUTHENTIC, FIRST U.S. PRESSING; THIS IS NOT A REISSUE, AN IMPORT, OR A COUNTERFEIT PRESSING.

·       ORIGINAL GATEFOLD COVER, MADE OF THICK CARDBOARD (AMERICAN STYLE)

·       INCLUDES THE ORIGINAL BOOKLET (WE CAN SEE IT THROUGH THE TOP SEAM)

·       THICK, HEAVY VINYL PRESSING

·       MONO version of this album has NEVER been available on legitimate standalone Compact Disc, although it was recently released as a part of the Beatles Mono Box Set .

(PLEASE SEE THE IMAGE OF THE COVER, LABEL OR BOTH, SHOWN BELOW)

(Note: this is a REAL image of the ACTUAL item you are bidding on. This is NOT a "recycled" image from our previous auction. What you see is what you’ll get.  GUARANTEED!)

If you wish to find out why Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr were one of the best rhythm sections in the universe, seek no further: this will reveal it all: the insanely rare mono mix of the fab four's final US mono recording, and a very different mix to boot. A Must for any serious Beatles collector. Plus, remember: US "stereo" version(s) of this album include fake (electronic) stereo versions of MANY some on this album - this is the only way to hear these gorgeous songs the way Beatles themselves intended them to be heard.

Finding a still sealed original copy?!?! Forget it – not even a HOPE!!! This may be the last one you will ever see.

For its extraordinary contribution to the contemporary music, superb production, craftsmanship, fine musicianship, revolutionary significance and influence it exerted on numerous generations of musicians, songwriters and general public, or for some other inherent quality, this album was voted one of top-200 albums of all time in one of the largest poll of critics, music reviewers, show business professionals and producers ever organized: the poll, which was conducted by Paul Gambaccini, the legendary BBC Radio A&R man, surveyed more than 50 top music professionals (including Roy Carr, Jonathan Cott, Robert Christgau, Cameron Crowe, Chet Flippo, Ben Fong-Torres, Charlie Gillett, Greil Marcus, Murray the K., Lenny Kaye, Bruce Morrow (a/k/a "Cousin Brucie"), Tim Rice , Lisa Robinson, Robert Shelton, Ed Ward, Joel Whitburn, Pete Wingfield, etc.). Some Reasons Why You Should Own Original American Mono Beatles Albums:

I.                 These are genuine historical artifacts. Rock & Roll did not produce many works deserving to be called history; albums by Beatles are a noble exception to this rule.

II.            These pressings are coveted by EVERYONE and, despite the fact that Beatles sold almost a billion records, precious few original mono albums in good shape remain on the market.

III.        Mono pressings are, almost by definition, the very first pressings. They were in print for only short period of time, ranging from only a few weeks (Magical Mystery Tour) to three years (Meet the Beatles).

IV.         First, mono pressings sound MUCH better and are much more vivid than the stereo versions.

V.              Mono versions contain different versions or mixes of many tracks; in some cases mono versions contain the only "proper" versions of the songs, which are available only in FAKE stereo on stereo albums.

VI.         Beatles mono albums are all analog pressings; whereas everything else you can currently find on the market is a ~NMLD digital mastering.

VII.     The original Beatles mono albums are a terrific investment value, not likely to go the Enron way.

·       CONDITION:

·       RECORD

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          THE ALBUM IS STILL FACTORY SEALED AND IS BELIEVED TO BE PERFECTLY MINT. Please note: sealed items are assumed to be mint and are sold as-is, as we have no way of inspecting them. For our policy on still sealed records ►click here (PLEASE READ BEFORE PLACING A BID).

(b)          The album comes with the original booklet still intact. (we can see it through the opening)

(c)           The record is  apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)          Mono pressing of this title is much rarer, and by far more  preferable to its stereo counterpart. We think that the mix is more natural, humane, "organic" and that the mixes are somewhat different than on the stereo version. We estimate that stereo copies of this album outnumber mono pressings by a ratio of at least 30:1.

(e)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
