BEATLES Million Sellers, UK DECCA CONTRACT EP, MISPRESS
The Beatles, Million Sellers.
Scarce UK Decca pressed Parlophone EP, GEP 8946.Yellow and black labels have the distinctive Decca groove to four pronged inner centre.
'Sold in UK..' and upper case 'Gramophone Co. Ltd.' rims.
KT tax code is not embossed to labels, but is stamped onto both dead wax/run-off areas.
Matrices are 7TCE 888-1 and 7TCE 889-1.
Stampers: 6/A and 5/A, although numbers are stamped, and digits are etched.
Includes labels with earlier misprint "Beatles' Golden Discs", which I believe is common to all the Decca pressings.
Presumably this EP was contracted out to Decca as it coincided with the single release of "Day Tripper" and LP release of "Rubber Soul", which would have put a fair demand on EMI.
A generally very clean and bright example.
Labels still have a good gloss and are not dulled. No sticker marks, inscriptions or tears. Just a very few wispy spider trail marks are detectable at centre spindle areas. Vinyl surfaces have a good gloss still, and display just a few light and superficial hairline marks and scuffs. No deep marks or digs, or anything which can be felt to the touch.
Playback is very bright and clean throughout, and free of background crackle, ticks or clicks, plays really nicely.
Sleeve is intact and broadly clean and bright, but with some imperfections. Some creasing along the line of the vinyl, and to corner areas. Top left corner fairly heavily creased, and although laminate has not peeled, some air pocketing is starting to become apparent in this area. When angled in the light a small impression mark from the ridges to record label edges is visible to the centre of the front panel. A few very tiny nicks and some handling feathering to entry side of front panel.
Predominantly white rear is still acceptably clean and not really grubby, although does display a slight ringwear darkening circle. Penned name to rear of sleeve. Slight laminate peel to top right corner of rear, although no loss, and backflaps are otherwise clean and intact.
All in all a very nice issue of this scarce Decca pressed Beatles' EP however.
