Description

PLEASE READ FIRST!

I'm having to make this even clearer as people are still buying records I'm grading low and as a 'collection filler', and then complain about the audio quality when they try to play them. As I do not own a record player I VISUALLY GRADE my records, so I cannotguarantee that discs will be click, skip and noise free (although any marks that may cause such problems will be highlighted in the description).

All photos are of the actual item on sale. I do not use stock or 'borrowed' images.

THE BEATLES
Please Please Me
Mega Rare 'Mid Sized' STEREO Cover in BEAUTIFUL Condition!

On offer here is a truly wonderful opportunity to add an incredibly rare and highly collectible Beatles album to your collection that's in a beautiful condition! This is an original 1964 STEREO copy of the Beatles debut LP, Please Please Me on the UK Parlophone label. This particular copy features the impossible to find mid-sized Stereo format on the sleeve!

This particular style seems to have come about in early 1964 on Garrod and Lofthouse sleeve, and was only used for a tiny fraction of copies of this album. The disc inside is an original, standard, original copy that does not feature the 'Sold in UK' statement.

Back in 1964 stereo was still very much something only the very well off could afford. Stereo discs cost more than their mono counterparts and stereophonic record players were still priced up to the point of being a highly expensive luxury. Because of this, the original stereo presses sold in tiny, tiny numbers whilst everyone bought the much cheaper mono presses. Today it is incredibly difficult to find the original stereo presses of their earlier albums!

The most remarkable thing about this copy, however, is the condition! The sleeve is a true EX/NM example and the disc inside also grades very respectively. These original copies are so, so hard to find in such a wonderful condition. The vast majority were played to death at parties, broken, worn down etc and soon replaced in later years. Copies that do turn up are usually pretty rough and marked. This copy, however, looks like it has been extremely well looked after during it's life. Check out the photos below!!

Here's your chance to pick up a beautiful example of this mega rarity!!

Please check out large, detailed photos of this record at the bottom of this listing.

Title Please Please Me Year of Release 1964 Catalogue Number PCS 3042 Label Yellow / Black Parlophone with Parlo rimtext Tax Code on Disc MT Sleeve Manufacturer Garrod and Lofthouse Side 1 Matrix Number YEX 94-1 Side 2 Matrix Number YEX 95-1 Side 1 Stampers 1 / RR Side 2 Stampers 1 / GL Cover Condition The cover is in EX+/NM- condition. The cover is looking *beautiful* and you wouldn't believe that it was 55 years old. You just never find original covers in this beautiful condition, especially such a rare, highly collectible example! The front is wonderfully clean with a clear laminate that has zero rubbing on it. No disc impression at all and just a little creasing in the laminate as you can see in the photos below. The top and bottom seams are both holding perfectly as well as the spine which, at most, just has one or two little creases running through it. The back is beautifully clean and looks incredible! The back is so pale and clean with just a slight hint of handling on the mouth edge, which still looks pretty sharp. The overflap are clear and holding tightly and, overall, is just a joy to look at. Beautiful, beautiful example of this incredibly rare and highly collectible sleeve!! Inner Sleeve Condition The inner sleeve is in EX- condition. The original tracing-paper lined inner sleeve is included. It's holding up really nicely and flat with just a little creasing in the corners. The seams are holding tightly although the bottom, right in the middle, there's a small opening of about 1cm or so. But overall, holding up very nicely. Inserts Condition - Disc Condition
(VISUALLY GRADED) The disc is in VG+/EX- condition. The disc has a really nice shine to it and looks clean, but does have some light scuffing. Nothing nasty or serious looking, however! Label Condition The labels are in EX- condition. Both labels are clean with just a very light touch of spindlewear. There's also a little whitening around the centrehole as you can see in the photos below.

My Vinyl Grading:

MINT No true preowned disc can be mint. The highest I will ever grade a disc is NM+/M- if it looks untouched and unplayed, but the MINT description will only be for records I personally know have never been played (i.e. I personally bought from new) or for copies that are still sealed. NEAR MINT (NM) For discs that look near flawless and which may have just the slightest, barely visible little whispy marks here and there. EXCELLENT (EX) For discs that still retain a brilliant, clean shine but does have some light scuffs here and there. VERY GOOD (VG) For discs that still look clean and have a nice shine to them, but do have a fair amount of light scuffmarks and/or some light scratches. GOOD (G) For discs that look like they have been loved and have a fair amount of scuffs and surface scratches. Not in terrible condition, but would look like it would play with a lot of crackle. FAIR (F) For discs that may have some life left in them but are pretty trashed with numerous surface scuffs and heavier scuffs and scratches etc POOR (P) For discs that are unplayable and look completely trashed. Discs like this would only ever be offered if they were insanely rare.
