The Beatles - Please Please Me, 1st UK Press

Coveted first UK mono pressing as identified by the original black & gold designed Parlophone label - soon changed to a more modern and yellow & black design - with publishing credit errors incorrectly crediting 4 songs of the album to Dick James, also soon corrected. The first press comes in a sleeve with the photo credit aligned to the far right of the bottom corner of the sleeve which was moved in soon after to align with the letter 'g' of 'songs'.

Catalogue number: PMC 1202

Matrix number: -1N / -1N

Label: Black & gold Parlophone

Stamper codes: 1G / 1R (1st mother on both sides, 1st stamper on side 1, making this one of the first 300 records pressed on the first day of production at EMI pressing plant, Hayes, Middlesex.

Condition:

Vinyl: VERY GOOD PLUS

Graded under harsh spotlight, glossy vinyl with surface marks visible, only light background cracked in some places, overall a fantastic listen. The early black and gold Parlophone mono presses are the definitive way to hear the raw energy of The Beatles' debut on EMI's cutting edge equipment arguably still to be rivalled today. A VG+ record plays through in full without issue with only some light background crackle in places.

Sleeve: VERY GOOD PLUS

The sleeve has light crease lines at the edges, fully readable spine, signs of wear on the back with some scuffing near the top. Fully intact with no splits or loose flip-backs.

Inner: EXCELLENT

Light wear only.

Grading system: UK Rare Record Price Guide (RRPG)

Packing: Records removed from sleeves and placed in new anti-static inners. Box mailers with stiffeners.
