Description
A great opportunity to buy a RARE VINYL LP from the 1960s by The Beatles called "Please Please Me".
This is a U.K. pressing released in 1963 on the Parlophone label (PMC 1202) (mono) and has 14 tracks (see photos for track listings).
This is the short-lived second pressing with the Black & Gold labels and the "Northern Songs" publishing credit. Very soon after this pressing, the vinyl was pressed with the Black & Yellow label design.
The matrix numbers in the dead wax are:- XEX 421-1N (side one) and XEX 422-1N (side two).
The vinyl has clearly been played many times, but despite the many light surface marks, there are NO serious scratches which prevent it from playing correctly. Having played both sides in their entirety, it plays without any sticking or jumping, though there is surface noise evident, mainly noticeable between the tracks. Overall I would grade it as only in GOOD condition, but it is still very listenable.
The labels are clean and free from any writing or stickers.
The record is flat and has no warps of any description.
The record is housed within an original company poly-lined inner sleeve with "Patents Applied For" printed in the bottom corner. It is in a VERY GOOD condition.
The Ernest J. Day & Co Ltd front-laminated picture cover is only in a GOOD condition. The bottom edge has suffered from shelf-wear, but the top edge and spine are still strong, with the printing on the spine clearly readable (see photo). The opening edge is frayed in places, especially on the back cover, which is a little grubby along the edge and has small crosses against selective tracks listed. The front photo is credited to Angus McBean (see photo).
Despite these shortcomings, this is still a highly collectable Beatles LP and should be of interest to avid collectors.
