Another from my personal collection of over 1,000 Beatles UK albums that I have collected over a period of more than 45 years! 1st UK pressing of The Beatles 'Red Album' 1962-1966 on the original Apple labels.  This album is a real beauty looks barely ever played in my personal opinion!  The audio is truly stunning through out! The Vinyls and audio is graded Very Near Mint! Complete with the original laminated front only Garrod & Lofthouse gate-fold cover and original red EMI record sleeves! 1962–1966 (also known as "The Red Album") is a compilation album by the English rock band the Beatles, spanning the years indicated in the title.





Released with its counterpart 1967–1970 ("The Blue Album") in 1973, it reached No. 3 in the United Kingdom and No. 1 in the United States Cash Box album chart.




However, in Billboard, 1962–1966 peaked at No. 3, while 1967–1970 reached the top spot. The album was re-released in September 1993 on compact disc, charting at No. 3 in the UK.





The album was compiled by Beatles manager Allen Klein. Even though the group had had success with cover versions of songs, most notably with "Twist and Shout", which made number 2 on the Billboard charts, only songs composed by the Beatles themselves were included. Along with its 1967–1970 counterpart, it compiles every single A-side released by the band in the UK.




As with 1967–1970, this compilation was produced by Apple/EMI at least partially in response to a bootleg collection titled Alpha Omega, which had been sold on television the previous year.




Print advertising for the two records made a point of declaring them "the only authorized collection of the Beatles.





The Album Cover
For the group's 1963 debut LP Please Please Me, photographer Angus McBean took the distinctive colour photograph of the group looking down over the stairwell inside EMI House (EMI's London headquarters in Manchester Square, now demolished). Also in 1963, the cover for The Beatles (No. 1) used a picture from the same shoot.










In 1969, The Beatles asked McBean to recreate this shot. Although the 1969 photograph was originally intended for the planned Get Back album, it was not used when that project saw eventual release in 1970 as Let It Be. Instead, the 1969 photograph, along with an unused photograph from the 1963 photo shoot, was used for both this LP and the cover of 1967–1970.







The inner gatefold photo for both LPs is from the "Mad Day Out photo session in London on Sunday 28 July 1968.

The album cover was designed by Tom Wilkes.

Different Variations
The British and American versions of the vinyl album contain notable differences; for example, "Help!" on the American edition includes the same pseudo-James Bond intro as the mix found on the American Help! soundtrack LP, while the same song on the British edition does not. Also, the British LP uses the stereo "whispering intro" mix of "I Feel Fine", while the US LP uses the mono mix from Beatles '65, which is drenched in additional reverb.

The Vinyls
The original Red Vinyls. On initial visual inspection these are of the original heavier and thicker vinyls and more robust than later pressings which are much more flimsier and less robust and in my opinion. Amazingly, I struggle see any spindle marks on the labels at all! These lay perfectly flat on the turntable and are free from any warping. (Note! I have double checked these) They look superb, still retaining its original glossy sheen from new. Only In strong light could possibly any or very (very) few surface marks be seen caused by the vinyl been slid in and out of its sleeve. Note (no) deep needle scratches that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops at all on all four sides!

The Audio Quality
I have played all four sides vinyl prior to listing on a top system at very loud volume! The audio is superbe cristal clear and vibrant throughout! Top audio seperation on all frequencies only heard like this on early original pressings! Note! please allow for Isolated interference/static is noted and isolated pop heard but importantly there were no loud constant clicks/ticks, pops or any jumps truly awesome and very rare for a 1st pressing. The audio is graded at least excellent plus to Very Near Mint on all four sides in my opinion!

PLEASE NOTE! I always add this disclaimer! I have played this album prior to listing as usual and have given my honest opinion on the audio quality. Allowances must be made for slight pressing defects for these 70s coloured vinyls. Please remember this is a 40 years old original vinyl (not a reissue) Please allow for the odd interference/static pop/crackle/tick but  importantly nothing consistant through out the audio! Please remember  that this would have been originally played on a system that is 40 years old!
All indications i.e. that this vinyl has (not) been overplayed and in fact hardly played no more than a handfulof times in my opinion and the audio quality superbe on all frequencies and the fact there are no spider marks on the labels that I can see!
 
The labels
This features the apple logo. These are superbe I can't see any spidering (even when angled to the light) and little if (no) spindle ware! Note! Side 3 label is wrinkled which is a manufacturers fault. This vinyl has hardly been played at all, at least just a handful of times in my personal opinion!

The Record Sleeves
This is the original EMI red lyric paper sleeves. Correct for this issue. Minor/light creasing with age only but for originals they are really superb very tiny edge wear but not really noticed unless looked for in my opinion. The vinyl are now always stored seperately from the sleeves.

The cover
The original 1st issue laminated front only Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold cover is superbe! with (no) edge splits or tears. Super,super glossy apearence.  The spine is awesome not faded like many seen, and the writing can clearly be seen! Note!  A truly superbe example!  Super glossy laminate no real creases or lines lines worth to mention. Any imperfections are very minor and are not really noticed unless looked for in my opinion.  Must be at least Excellent plus if not better in my opinion!
