Description
The first EMI UK release of the "Revolver"" album by The Beatles on cassette in September,1970 in superb, excellent plus condition - the whole item. Tested throughout both sides and plays perfect.
Clean crisp inlay with no writing/stains. Lime green paper labels are bubble-free and clear/legible. Intact Norelco case with no cracks/splits.
The first cassette edition of this album can be identified by the elementary newspaper print like design with the album cover extending to the very bottom of the front of the inlay, the catalogue no on the spine of the inlay, the circular 1 & 7/8ths ips denotation on the top of the inlay spine and the advertising of other Beatles albums "musicassettes" on the front of the fold over. The lime green paper labels have the print "This stereo "musicasstte" gives genuine monaural reproduction" to the bottom left.
"Revolver" as a first release cassette was unique in that its inlay design at the front and on the spine was coloured black, unlike the other Beatles cassette first releases which had a white background. No other Beatles first release cassette inlays had this design and provides further evidence that EMI UK were still experimenting with packaging presentation of the new format. It was not until the REissues of January 1972 that the deign had become standardised with the all-gold style. A rare item.
