Increasingly rare and sought after nice condition copy, with truly excellent STEREO sound quality, of this 1966 UK 1st press 12" LP BEATLES classic on the PARLOPHONE label, STEREO PCS 7009

Matrix Numbers : Side 1  YEX - 605 - 1 with stampers "3" and "A G" at 9 o'clock & 3 o'clock respectively

 Side 2  YEX - 606 - 1 with stampers "1" and "R M" at 9 o'clock & 3 o'clock respectively

The UK 1st press identifiers of this being a UK 1st pressing are :

- the 605-1 & 606-1 matrix numbers

- "THE GRAMOPHONE CO..." & "SOLD IN THE U.K..." texts

- the "K T" tax code on the side 2 label

- small block "STEREO" text on the front cover

- the label credits being in song title, composer, lead singer order

- the side 1 "TAXMAN" title and credits being by itself on a single line

The overall condition of the vinyl is a solid VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+), and in normal daylight is nothing less than impressive. When tilted at the right angle in a good light some shadow lines/dulling come into view on both sides - all very light, faint, surface only, and strictly superficial so not impinging upon the excellent sound quality at all. Apart from these, and just a few equally light and superficial scuff marks, there are no further blemishes. 

The condition of each of the labels is EXCELLENT (EX). Just a few small and very light spindle trails on each label - apart from that, perfect!

The condition of the iconic Garrod & Lofthouse front-side laminated outer sleeve is VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+). All of the edges remain firm with no scuffing and the opening edges remain similarly firm with no fraying though there are x2 1cm horizontal tears towards the bottom of the front side opening edge. The reverse side flipbacks are in great shape, the corners remain nicely defined right angles with just a little rubbing (slightly more so on the bottom right corner), the spine remains rigid with all spine text fully legible, there is no laminate lifting, and there is no unwanted writing or doodles. Apart from the two small tears the only other blemish is x6 horizontal laminate creases on the front side adjacent to the spine (each less than 1cm). A little better than "very good" but not quite up to "excellent".

The audio quality is EXCELLENT (EX+). No skips, repeats, pops, jumps, or clicks and any background interference is at an absolute minimum - just the hint of some very background and light crackle during a few of the intermissions but this really is negligible. Great tone and clarity throughout with every track on this Beatles masterpiece making for a great listen

Comes with original plain white inner sleeve, with correct "PATENT Nos..." and "MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN" horizontal text : no splits, tears, edge fraying or age discolouration - just some mild creasing and remaining fully functional.

An overall very good plus condition copy of this increasingly rare and sought after UK 1st press Beatles classic - a real "must" for any serious vinyl collection.

Note that I always insert the vinyl(s) into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the sleeve itself  to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.

Descriptions of any records I sell comply with the Rare Record Price Guide grading guidelines :

Mint  The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent  The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good  The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good  The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

Fair  The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

Poor  The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing

Bad  The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
