Description
On offer here is a VERY RARE UK original 1966 mispressed mono 1st pressing of the Revolver LP by THE BEATLES on the yellow & black Parlophone label with the ‘Sold In UK’ text and the XEX 606–1 matrix number on side 2. This rare mispressing features the withdrawn remix 11 version of Tomorrow Never Knows. Plus this copy comes in the rarely seen and ultra-scarce EJ Day cover rather than the much more common Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve!
The matrix numbers are Side 1 – XEX 605-2, Side 2 – XEX 606-1. Catalogue number is PMC 7009. Mothers & stampers are: Side 1 – L 3 & Side 2 – M 1. Both the cover and the label for Side 2 lists track 4 as ‘Dr. Robert’.
The record is visually very strictly graded in VG- condition, there are quite a few hairline marks plus some small scratches on both sides, causing occasional surface noise but as usual with these original thick vinyl 60’s pressings the LP plays through really well, though with some background noise and occasional clicks etc but with no sticks or jumps and it is 100% flat with no dishing or warping. The record plays much better than it looks.
The VERY RARE original E.J. Day flipback laminated cover is also very strictly graded in VG+ condition with some of the usual minor wear and some spine creasing. 2 of the 3 flaps on the rear flipback have faint traces of writing on them. The labels are nice with no tears, writing etc and with minimal spindle wear. Comes with the original plain white inner sleeve in nice condition. A very acceptable copy of a classic Beatles rarity, not a Mint copy but it plays really well.
