ORIGINAL, FIRST PRESSING US MONO COPY OF "THE BEATLES SECOND ALBUM"
A collector friend and I had a friendly bet earlier this year, and I won. He had to send me an original Capitol Beatles LP which I would auction on eBay for my favorite local food bank. He sent me TWO, and this is one of them.
You are bidding on "The Beatles Second Album", the second Capitol Records release by the fabulous Beatles! This is the original first pressing mono release, with no time listing on both "Long Tall Sally" and "I Call Your Name" on side 2.
The album is a gem! I would have to say it's in NM condition, played very few times, and very nicely taken care of by its owner(s). The labels are crisp and bright, and the vinyl is without a scratch.
The cover is in VG condition. There is a 2 1/2" light seam split along the top of the spine, extending to a 2 1/2" split along the top, with a slight tear on the end of the top split. There is a light 2" split along the bottom spine and a light 1" split along the right bottom. Ring wear is light and barely noticeable on both sides. On the back cover, there is a slight bend in the upper right corner, and a "G" written in marker.
100 of the proceeds of this auction will go to Philabundance (www.philabundance.org), the Delaware Valley's hunger relief organization.
Philabundance was founded in 1984 to help fight hunger in the Delaware Valley while reducing food waste. Concentrating its efforts on perishable foods, Philabundance has developed a food distribution system that includes direct delivery and local hubs. On January 1, 2005, Philabundance combined forces with the Philadelphia Food Bank, which had concentrated on non-perishable food, to provide a “Full Plate of Services†to member agencies. Their food distribution now includes a Walk-Through, where member agencies can “shop†for items not listed on the menu.
Over the years, Philabundance has also developed specific programs to try to address the nutritional needs of specific vulnerable populations in the Delaware Valley, particularly children and seniors. Last year, Philabundance provided approximately 22 million pounds of food to our member agencies.
Consider this:
According to the 2003 U.S. Census Data,
- More than 600,000 Delaware Valley residents live below the federal poverty line, and so are at risk for hunger and chronic malnutrition.
- Of these Delaware Valley residents, more than 200,000 are children.
- Also of these Delaware Valley residents, more than 112,000 (20%) are seniors.
