Description
Original 1968 first UK cassette release of "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" by The Beatles identified by its dark green paper labels, grey shell with metal screws, the "Sold In The UK etc" text in the bottom right hand corner of both labels and the inside of the inlay,and the clear leader tape with the catalogue no printed in black at the beginning. Old style Parlophone logo to labels.
The cassette shell was manufactured for EMI by the Dutch firm, Phillips, who invented the musicassette system, and who supplied EMI with all their cases until EMI opened their own tape duplicating facilities at Hayes in Middlesex in July 1970.
No bubbling or raising of the labels, this like-new item looks never to have seen a cassette player. The inlay is crisp, clean and unmarked, as is the cassette itself.
The definitive, very first, UK cassette release of "Sgt Pepper" in 1968, four years before the cassette music system took proper hold on the market around 1972. Also the very first Beatles album to be released on cassette, with the tracks in the same running order as the vinyl album, and the unique artwork.
