Description
THIS AUCTION IS FOR :-
An original 1967 first issue “SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND†MONO UK LP by the BEATLES. First pressing on the black and yellow PARLOPHONE label reference PMC 7027. This has "THE GRAMOPHONE CO.LTD" rim credits and "Sold in the UK" label credits. Matrix numbers are, SIDE 1:- XEX 637-1, SIDE 2:- XEX 638-1. Stamper codes SIDE 1 - 2/GPL, SIDE 2 - 2/HT. Comes with sheet of cutouts in mint condition.
Owned since new, we think that we played it somewhat less than 20 times on a top end HiFi system with very low stylus pressure. The vinyl has retained its original shine and lustre and it is in excellent condition, without any scratches or blemishes visible to the naked eye. However, please bear in mind that this record has been taken out from its sleeve and played a few times.
Tastes and preferences do change over the years and this record was hidden in the library and not played for well over three decades. In order to check it over it was recently given a run and no audible flaws were detected. It sits on the turntable perfectly true without any signs of buckling or distortion. The black/yellow Parlophone labels are in clean condition with no fading or disfigurement. The spindle hole does not display any discernable wear. KT tax code is embossed in the centre of side one's label.
Gatefold laminated cover is in excellent condition with its original, bright vibrant colour and only a few light scuff marks. There are no seam splits and the spine is intact and fully readable. This is consistent with it being kept vertical with other vinyls in a purpose built rack since it was purchased (except for the odd house move! – when all vinyls were given special treatment and packaging).
The original 1967 UK first issue red/pink psychedelic inner sleeve is in clean condition with bright vibrant colours. There are a few creases but no seam splits, marks or writing. It is endorsed “MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN – PATENTS APPLIED FORâ€
The original 1967 UK 1st issue cutout card is in mint- condition without any marks, rips or tears.
