THE BEATLES ''SGT PEPER'S LONELY HARTS CLUB BAND'' 1st UK PRESSING!! YELLOW & BLACK PARLOPHONE LABELS! CAT NO PMC 7027 ((MONO)) THE VINYLS PLAYING SURFACE LOOKS NEAR MINT !!, (NO) AUDIO SOUNDING SCRATCHES! ASTOUNDING NEAR MINT AUDIO!! RAREST EVER WIDE SPINE GARROD & LOFTHOUSE FLIPBACK GATEFOLD COVER EXCELLENT PLUS!! COMPLETE WITH FOOLS SLEEVE AND CUTOUTS NEAR MINT!!
Another from my personal collection of over 1000 UK Beatles albums alone, that I have aquired over the past 40 years or more! This album, like all of my albums have been stored in a case with the vinyls always seperated from the sleeve and cover for protection, this is how I have always stored my records!. This 1st issue 1st UK pressing is absolutely exceptional in all respects and importantly totaly original and complete in absolutely tip top condition! Starting with the original and rarest ever 'wide spined' Garrod & Lofthouse, internal flipback gatefold cover which in fact looks almost as new in my opinion super ,super glossy laminate and amaizingly no real creases worth to mention in fact any minor blemishes or imperfections, you would really have to scrutinise to notice any. Even internaly this 44 year old album cover is almost perfect deep rich yellow in colour! The original 'fools' red and white phsychadelic record sleeve is also in astoundingly clean condition and the cut outs are as new! Then we get down to the vinyl, which is visually at first glance almost like a new vinyl, with no visable needle scratches or any audio sounding marks that I can see at all! In fact quite amaizingly it is hard to even see a spindle mark on the labels! Try to find another copy like this, beleive me it is almost impossible to find! The next and probably from my personal opinion is the audio quality. Right from the outset of the needle hiting the playing surface , it is quite obvious that from the cristal clear and vibrant near as perfect audio quality , that this vinyl has barely ever been played at all!! To find an original early first UK pressing that is 44 years old like this is almost impossible to find in my opinion. A real keeper and never need to upgrade in my personal opinion!
JOHN LENNON ONCE SAID ''THE ONLY WAY TO HEAR 'PEPPER'S' IS IN MONO'' THIS IS UP THERE AS ONE OF THE BEST THAT I HAVE HEARD ABSOLUTELY CRISTAL CLEAR AND VIBRANT TOP TOP ON ALL FREQUENCIES!!!
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is the eighth studio album by the British rock band The Beatles. Recorded over a 129-day period beginning on 6 December 1966, the album was released on 1 June 1967 in the United Kingdom and the following day in the United States. Sgt. Pepper is often described as The Beatles' magnum opus, and one of the most influential albums of all time by prominent critics and publications!!!
When Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was being recorded, "Beatlemania" was waning. The Beatles had grown tired of touring and had quit the road in August 1966!!.
After one particular concert, while being driven away in the back of a small van, the four of them—even Paul McCartney, who was perhaps the most in favour of continuing to tour—decided that enough was enough!!. From that point on the Beatles became an entirely studio-based band. For the first time in their careers, the band had more than ample time with which to prepare their next record.
As EMI's premier act and Britain's most successful pop group they had almost unlimited access to the state of the art technology of Abbey Road Studios. All four band members had already developed a preference for long late night sessions, although they were still extremely efficient and highly disciplined in their studio habits!!!.
George Harrison, the lead guitarist of the Beatles, went on a trip to India to learn to play the sitar, an Indian instrument, with Ravi Shankar, a renowned sitarist. Harrison brought back with him Indian culture and music!!.
Two songs dropped from Sgt. Pepper, "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Penny Lane", were both recorded in late 1966 and early 1967.
Brian Epstein decided that a new single was needed; the two songs were issued as a double-A-sided single in February 1967!!!. In keeping with the group's usual practice, the single tracks were not included on the LP (a decision Martin maintains he regrets to this day). They were released only as a single in the UK at the time, but were included as part of the American LP version of Magical Mystery Tour (which was issued as a 6-track EP in Britain). The Harrison composition "Only a Northern Song" was also recorded during the Pepper sessions but did not see release until January 1969 when the soundtrack album for the animated feature Yellow Submarine was issued!!!!.

The Vinyl
This is the original thick and chunky 43 year old slab of vinyl (only found like this on the earliest presssings) Later pressings were much flimsier and less robust!
The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free from warping! On initial inspection the vinyls playing surface is like new and gleems as new, this retains it glossy appearence from new and it is even hard to see a blemish on the playing surface at all!! Any marks that could possibly ever be seen angled in a strong light would be sleeve removal only but to be honest it is hard to see any at least nothing that would cause any clicks or pops at all!!
The Audio Quality,
I have very carefully listened played this vinyl track for track at least six times at very loud volume on a top system using a dedicated mono cartridge! The audio is absolutely astounding throughout! Cristal clear and very vibrant without any distortion or that this has been overplayed at all! There is (none) of the usual; background crackle or interfearance often found on these early pressings almost as good as it gets in my personal opinion! I heard (no) loud clicks or pops and certainly (no) skips or jumps truly stunning almost cd quality on my systems for the most part indeed you rarely ever come across 43 year old Beatles albums like this! ! It is important to note that this vinyl has been stored in a case for over 35 years and has been laying dormant for all of this time. It was evedent that this vinyl needed significant cleaning before each play, because a build up of dirt and dust in the grooves over the years causes static ticks and crackle but after each play this vinyl sounded truly better and better throughout, even in between tracks this is almost silent!! For any audiophiles out there this one is for you, absolutely superbe! I would grade this audio almost as good as it gets in my personal opinion graded at least excellent plus to very near mint on my systems!
Please note! I always add this disclaimer! I have given my honest account on the audio quality as I heard it and carefuly play tested this vinyl at least six times prior to listing on a top system at very loud volume using a dedicated mono cartridge! Please allow for the odd light static tick (not) consistant throughout the audio! This vinyl has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 35 years!! It was evedent that this vinyl needed a constant clean before each play due to a build up of dirt and dust in the grooves awhich causes static tics or pops and crackle and the fact that I could see debrit on the playing surface after play., A constant clean before each play is recomended This would reduce any static and would enhance the audio quality. Please remember that this is a genuine 44 year old vinyl that would have originaly been played on a 44 year old system!
The Labels
These are the original yellow and Black Parlophone labels With ''the Gramophone co..'' text around the rim (only 1st press) ''Sold In The UK.....'' text is featured across the labels (only 1st UK press) The K.T tax code is also stamped on side 2 (only 1st uk press)
These labels are almost perfect in appearence (see photos) Amaizingly it is even hard to see a spindle mark on these labels (very very rare to find like this) In fact only on side 1 can I just barely see some spidering very minimal only. There is little if (no) ware around the spindle hole (The hole is perfectly round)
The Record Sleeve
This is the original red & White ''fools'' psychadelic sleeve rarely seen in this awesome condition (no) splits or tares very very clean and is or has been seperated from the sleeve and cover for protection!
The Cover
This is the original 1st issue Garrod & Lofthouse rarest ''Wider Spined ((mono gatefold)'' internal flipback gatefold cover! Fully laminated! Please note! These wide spined Mono gatefolds are the rarest and most sought after rarely seen especially in this condition! (normaly often seen on stereo copies only) This cover is stunning Super glossy appearence throughout without the normal nasty creases! Any creases marks or ware you would have to look for to notice! Strong and straight internaly near perfect. The spine is truly superbe all writing is clear and legable! Amaizingly i can't see any ringware on the front ,Any very slight ringware you would have to look for at the rear only. This cover must be graded at least excellent plus in my opinion! It will be hard to find a better cover never need to upgrade in my opinion!!
